here, along with courses like digital construction and warehousing. The tutors provide first-class teaching to help develop the knowledge, skills and

Ben Strutt

Labourer

Ben has successfully completed his 2 week Introduction to Construction programme at Sheffield Skills Academy and achieved 50/50 on his CSCS test!

And that’s not all... Ben has also secured employment in the construction industry providing labouring support with a local employer!

Here is what Ben had to say about his journey at Sheffield Skills Academy:‘I have attended 2 similar courses in the past and failed my CSCS test both times. The support I received from Adam and the team at Sheffield made me feel confident that I would pass this time. I’ve really enjoyed the course from start to finish!’

Learners on to the Multi Trade

1. Kalem Williams Completed the Introduction to Construction program and passed with highs marks.

He is now undertaking the 6 week Multi Trade course.

2. Kate Naylor It is great to get women on our courses who are perusing a career in construction.

Kate scored a huge 91% on her CSCS test and is now half way through the Multi Trade course.

3. Paul WidowsonPaul had some experience in Multi Trades but wanted to brush up on his skills.

Paul is currently enjoying the brickwork module. He also flew through the CSCS test scoring 100%.

Paul Baker successfully secured a full-time position in Property Development. Paul had a

long career in engineering until the Covid pandemic hit, so he decided to re-train and

improve his employability prospects. Paul attended Sheffield Skills Academy’s

Introduction to Construction course with the intention of progressing on to the 6-week Multi

Trade course.

Paul used his time in the personal development module to apply for jobs and

gained himself an interview on Friday March 12th. He attended the interview and secured

the role. Paul started his new career on Monday March 22nd.

Morteza attended the Multi Trade program to help improve his practical skills and employability. He is now working with an agency increasing his experience and one day hopes to become self employed.

Learners on the Introduction to Construction1. Amber BoulderstoneAmber joined the Introduction to Construction course and has now progressed on to the Multi Trades course. She is currently enjoying the painting and decorating module of the program.

2. Todd HardmanTodd’s confidence has grown throughout both the Introduction to Construction and the Multi Trade course. He is currently enjoying the painting and decorating element of the Multi Trade program.3. Mohamed AlsirMohamed had some experience in Multi Trades but not enough to feel confident enough to apply for roles. He said that the Multi Trade program has improved his practical understanding and given him the confidence to apply for jobs in all three areas.

4. Martin SellarsMartin attended the Introduction to Construction program and then moved on the the multi Trade. Martin is looking for an electricians apprenticeship. Martin was wanting to gain experience in various before going into his chosen profession.

I learnt a lot of new skills like block paving, how to make mortar as well as how to carry out manual handling technique at work place. I learnt about employees rights at workplace and hazards, risk and how we can decrease the chances of harm. I am thankful to Adam for his constructive feedback on my tasks that how can improve. Thank you for helping me with my CV.
