Outputs: Transformed data from which DSS "decisions" are generated.

Technology used: American Airlines produced a DSS technology that helps to decide and how to set prices for each seat so that a plane is filled and profits are maximized.

Decision support systems (DSS) are a subset of

computer-based information systems (CBIS). The

general term computer-based information

systems' is a constellation of a variety of information systems such as office automation

systems, transaction processing

systems, management information systems and

management support systems. It was argued that

information systems should exist only to support

decisions, and that the focus of the information

systems development efforts should be shifted

away from structured operational control to

unstructured critical decisions in organizations.

system like Bank loan verification, Result making

system of university, college or school etc.

Decision support systems are powerful tools integrating scientific methods for supporting complex decisions with techniques developed in information science, and are gaining an increased popularity in many domains. They are especially valuable in situations in which the amount of available information is prohibitive for the intuition of an unaided human decision maker and in which precision and optimality are of importance. Decision support systems aid human cognitive deficiencies by integrating various sources of information, providing intelligent access to relevant knowledge, aiding the process of structuring, and optimizing decisions.

The DSS have a bright future in industry, Business as well as common life like university, college and school management systems.

By the help of DSS we can solve big problems in very short interval of time.

DSS made the human life easy and comfortable.

It has a unique ability to detect and solve the problem itself.
