OverviewThe State Board of Education (SBOE) issued Proclamation 2014 in April 2012. The adoption of materials under Proclamation 2014 is scheduled to occur in November 2013. The adopted materials are scheduled to be available for use beginning in the 2014-2015 school year. Proclamation 2014 calls for instructional materials for the following subject areas:Mathematics Mathematics, grades K-8 Mathematics (Spanish), grades K-5Science Science, grades K-12 Science (Spanish), grades K-5 Technology Applications Technology Applications, grades K-12

TEA Process

• Publishers submitted instructional materials to TEA for review.

• Phase I review conducted and publishers were notified of any needed changes and given time to make changes. Resources listed on Region XX website.

• Phase II- Teams of educators meet and evaluate percentage of TEKS “covered” in instructional materials. TEA releases these %.

• Districts evaluate materials and select instructional materials for adoption.

Alamo Heights Adoption Guidelines

• In order for a textbook to be considered for district adoption, it must meet the following criteria:

• Available for entire grade span (K-5; 6-8)• Available in Spanish and English (ELEM)• Must meet 100% of TEKS as listed on

Proclamation 2014 Adopted Instructional Materials List (Published on Region XX Website)
