Introduction-Learning Style
Most people favor particular method of interacting with, talking in, and processing stimuli or information.
Based on these concepts the idea of individualized learning styles originated in the 1970’s and has gained popularity in recent years.
A learning style is a method of learning particular to an individual that is presumed to allow that individual to learn best.
Learning Style
Everyone has their own “style” of collecting and organizing information into useful knowledge. Example: Online learning is particularly well suited to some
styles and personalities.Introverted personality approach- Easier to communicate than face-to-face situations. Less hierarchical approach. Collaborative learning.
Knowing your learning styles helps you to-
Use techniques better suited to you. Improve speed and quality of learning. Be more productive. Be more creative. Make better decisions. Improve problem solving.
Visual Learners –You have to see it to believe it !
Think in pictures and learn best from visual displays such as pictures, illustrations, photos, graphs, diagrams, maps etc.
Easily visualize objects, plans and outcomes in mind’s eye. Have a good spatial sense, which gives a good sense of
direction. Strong sense of colors. Difficulty with spoken directions. Often Good readers.
Auditory Learners- If you hear it, you remember it.
Prefers to get information by listening. Difficulty to follow written directions. Difficulty with reading and writing. Good at explaining. Notices sound effects in the movies. Enjoys music. Can’t keep quiet for long time. Often benefit from using text loud and using tape recorder.
Kinesthetic Learners - If you can touch it with your hands, you will remember it.
Prefers hands-on learning. Can assemble parts without reading direction. Difficulty sitting still. Learns better when physical activity is involved. Very well coordinated and athletic ability.
