Remote services. Requesting documents from

other UC3M libraries The library is a single service, so you can use the collections of all the libraries.

You can easily access this service clicking on “Check my account” in our web. If

you are using our catalogue, you can find this option (Other UC3M libraries

documents request) on the My account menu.

Check first if the document is available

You need to log in Campus Global

Do not forget to tell us where the document is and where you would like to

pick it up

You will have the document in your library in less than 24 hours and you will

receive a notification by email

Remember this service is only for documents in the UC3M libraries (if you

need any other University’s documents you have to use the Inter Library Loan

service)

Remote Services. Making a reservation

Do you want to take a look at this tutorial?(Spanish)

We can make a reservation when

all the copies of a document are

already borrowed: this is as easy as

putting yourself down in a list so

that we let you know when it is

available.

This option will be possible only

when viewing the complete record

of a document in the catalog, so do

not forget to click on the icon

Remote Services. Important advices about the

holds in order to improve how they work

If there are several editions, but they are alike, make several reservations

If you notice there are few copies of a document, please ask us to purchase

additional ones

If you want to know your position in the queue and the estimated waiting

time, check your user status. If you are not interested in the reservation any

more, please cancel it

Inform us immediately if you are told you have a reserved document

available and this does not concern you any more

Be careful whith the additional materials: place the hold only on the item you

are interested in (i.e. DVD with 2 discs: one with the film and another with the

extras; documents in several volumes,…)

If we do not contact you in a reasonable time, contact us: perhaps the delay

is due to a return delay, to a very long queue or because you have made a

reservation on special project or annual loan items.

Browsing the shelves Most of the bibliographic collection is ordered by a subject

classification: the Universal Decimal Classification (UDC).

Each subject has a number, so that documents on the same academic

field are gathered together. This number is used to form the CALL

NUMBER, located on the spine of the book.

In order to find

a book in the

shelves

you need to know

the call number

Initial letter of the room where the document is located.

Those documents located in the Humanities, Leganés,

Colmenarejo and Puerta de Toledo libraries include the

initials H/, L/, C/ and PT/ before the initial of the room.

UDC number

The three first letters of the author surname. They are

used to order alphabetically those documents on the

same subject and with the same UDC number
