  • Where centuries of experience meet forward thinking

Born out of an era of great progress and technical advance

ment, Maison Montblanc was founded in 1906 in the port

city of Hamburg. As the engineer August Eberstein and the

banker Alfred Nehemias, later joined by merchant Claus

Johannes Voss, were inspired and united by the pioneering

spirit of their time, the three founders started their venture

with the production of groundbreaking safety fountain pens.

In a seamless union of innovation, functionality and elegan ce,

the company perfected the creation of fine writing ins

truments and quickly grew to worldwide renown. Their

efforts subsequently culminated in the creation of the first

Meisterstck fountain pen, which remains an iconic writing

    instrument to this day.

Achieving its high level of sophistication by pairing in no

vation with tradition, the company expanded its port folio

into the areas of leather craft, watchmaking and fine jewel

lery. As early as 1926, Montblanc introduced the first leather

pieces to accompany the maisons writing instruments.

Montblanc established its first headquarters in its native city of Hamburg in a prominent, brick-fronted building at Schanzenstrasse 75.

  • Complementing the maisons writing instruments, Montblanc started producing leather accessories such as pen pouches and stationery in 1926.

The pen pouches and stationery items were originally crafted

in Offenbach, Germany one of the epicentres of German

    leather craftsmanship.

Today, the maisons leather pieces come from the

Montblanc Pelletteria in Florence, Italy the European heart

of leather craft since the Renaissance. Refining longstanding

craftsmanship traditions, the skilled artisans here are as

dedicated to advancing their craft today as the Montblanc

founders were more than 100 years ago. Drawing inspira

tion from traditional techniques as well as stateoftheart

innovation, they constantly strive to create items that unite

    functionality with timeless elegance.

Never standing still, the collections encompass new

styles and functions as Montblanc widens its range of designs

to cater to more tastes and needs than ever from smart

sophistication for business and functional and durable

pieces for everyday use or frequent travel, to con temporary

elegance for all kinds of urban adventures. With creativity,

accuracy and dedication at every stage of production,

Montblanc delivers fine lifetime companions, crafted for

those who share the maisons passion for fine detail, com

  • Inspired by the rediscovery of classical Greek and Roman

texts and scholars, a renewal of the arts and sciences

emerged in the 15th century in the Italian city states

known today as the Renaissance era. Its centre was the

city of Florence, where the ruling Medici family had brought

the city to unprecedented wealth and prosperity. Here,

in the heart of Tuscany, the arts and skilled crafts flourished.

With the Arno river connecting the citys trade to the Me

diterranean Sea, the renown of Florentine artisans spread

    throughout Europe.

Today, Europes historical centre of leather craftsman

ship is home to the Montblanc Pelletteria. Deeply rooted in

the citys artisanal tradition, these master craftsmen skilfully

transform the designers creative ideas into pieces of time less

style and singular perfection. Whether small leather goods

such as wallets, business card holders and pen pouches or

larger leather goods such as document cases, city bags and

Soft jabs with a hammer make the pieces flaps durable and ensure the longevity of the leather goods as fine lifetime companions.

    Accomplished artistry shapes timeless elegance

  • backpacks the experience and dedication of the Montblanc

Pelletterias master craftsmen safeguards the outstanding

quality of all the maisons leather pieces.

The long journey from raw material to consummate

elegance begins with the selection of fine leathers. Carefully

chosen for quality, the material is then treated by tanning,

dying and printing to achieve the desired visual and haptic

structure. From skilfully applied traditional prints to

innovative, highperformance surfaces resistant to heat

and water, the artisans wealth of experience and quest

    for innovation knows no boundaries.

After the processed leather has been cut, the bag makers

skilfully assemble all elements of the final piece. With ex

pert hands, they shape and turn the corners of each item to

achieve an evenly flawless elegance, finally sewing them

together with painstaking care and endowing them with

elegant yet durable fittings. To ensure they become fine life

time companions, Montblanc leather goods are subjected

to a variety of pro cedures from mechanical stress tests to

    climate chambers.

Skilfully performed by the Montblanc Pelletterias leather artisans, hand-stitching gives each leather piece the singular character that is the hallmark of traditional craftsmanship.

We believe that the written word has the power to change the world.

This is why Montblanc, in partnership with UNICEF, aims to improve

learning conditions for over 5 million children through quality learning

materials and better teaching. To pass on the gift of writing, Montblanc

extends the cooperation beyond writing instruments and has created

a collection of large and small leather goods. Each purchase increases

    the amount donated to UNICEF.

The Montblanc Meisterstck Selection UNICEF takes its inspira

tion from six characters handwritten by children in six different world

languages the first letters they learn at school. These letters can be

found in the blue jacquard lining of bags, wallets and pocket accessories.

Together with a unique combination of black printed and black plain

leather and a touch of blue leather inside small leather goods, it has

become a collection which speaks through its subtle, yet distinctive elegance.

A belt with the same black printed leather completes the collection.

Crafted from black Italian full-grain cowhide, the blue lining of this unique document case is adorned with the UNICEF alphabet motif. The adjustable and detachable nylon strap makes it the perfect business companion.
