Maya has two forms

1. Physical- 5 elements

2. Subtle- Thoughts

Maya is made up of the 5 elements.

For the Mind to experience Sach (Truth) it has to remove its self from the cloth of the 5 elements.

This creates the wall and the veil/ parda.

The body is the wall the mind is the veil.

ਇਹੁ ਤਨੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਪਾਹਹਆ ਹਪਆਰ ੇਲੀਤੜਾ ਲਹਿ ਰੰਗਾਏ ॥

This body fabric is conditioned by Maya, O beloved; this cloth is dyed in greed. 721

ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਕਰਮਾ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਧਰਮਾ ॥ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਪੰਚ ਤਤੁ ਤੇ ਜਨਮਾ ॥ ਸਾਕਤੁ ਲੋਭੀ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਮੂੜਾ ॥ ਗੁਰਮੁਹਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਜਪੈ ਮਨੁ ਰੂੜਾ ॥੩॥ These are the actions of the mind commits and this is the Dharma of the Mind. This mind is born of the five elements. This mind is Sakat, perverted and greedy. The Gurmukh chants Naam and the mind becomes beautiful. ||3||

Our Mind transformed by Greed and our Body is Colored in Greed.

ਪਉਣ ਪਾਣੀ ਅਗਨੀ ਹਿਸਰਾਉ ॥ ਤਹੀ ਹਨਰੰਜਨੁ ਸਾਚੋ ਨਾਉ॥

ਹਤਸੁ ਮਹਹ ਮਨੂਆ ਰਹਹਆ ਹਲਵ ਲਾਇ ॥ ਪਰਣਵਹਤ ਨਾਨਕੁ ਕਾਲੁ ਨ ਿਾਇ ॥੧੦॥ Forget the three qualities of wind, water and

fire,and concentrate on the pure True Name.

That human who remains on the path of Liv, prays Nanak, shall not be eaten by Kall.||10|| 839

ਏਕਾ ਮਾਈ ਜੁਗਹਤ ਹਵਆਈ ਹਤਹਨ ਚੇਲੇ ਪਰਵਾਣੁ ॥ ਇਕੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੀ ਇਕੁ ਭੰਡਾਰੀ ਇਕੁ ਲਾਏ ਦੀਿਾਣੁ ॥ The One Divine Mother conceived and gave birth to the three deities. One, the Creator of the World; One, the Sustainer; and One, the Destroyer.

The mind is Sukum (subtle) and susceptible to both physical and imagined realties. This is the challenge.

This Game is played with the mind.

ਹਮਰਗ ਹਤਰਸਨਾ ਹਜਉ ਜਗ ਰਚਨਾ ਯਹ ਦੇਿਹੁ ਹਰਦੈ ਹਿਚਾਹਰ ॥ ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਭਜੁ ਰਾਮ ਨਾਮ ਹਨਤ ਜਾ ਤੇ ਹੋਤ ਉਧਾਰ ॥੨॥੨॥ Think about this with your heart, that this world and your life is a mirage of desire. Says Nanak, Baj (Chant) Nit (all the time) and have deliverance. ||2||2||536

ਸਹਸਾ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰੁ ਹੈ ਮਹਰ ਜੰਮੈ ਆਇਆ ਜਾਇਆ ॥

This world is an illusion; it dies and it is re-born-it comes and it goes in reincarnation. 138

Mind In Harchanduri

ਹਹਰਹਾਂ ਹਹਰਚੰਦਉਰੀ ਪੇਹਿ ਕਾਹੇ ਸਚੁ ਮਾਨਈ ॥੨੦॥

Oh Har! Why do you think this Harchinduri is True!

ਸਚਾ ਨੇਹੁ ਨ ਤੁਟਈ ਜੇ ਸਹਤਗੁਰੁ ਭੇਟੈ ਸੋਇ ॥ਹਗਆਨ ਪਦਾਰਥੁ ਪਾਈਐ ਹਤਰਭਵਣ ਸੋਝੀ ਹੋਇ ॥ ਹਨਰਮਲੁ ਨਾਮੁ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਜੇ ਗੁਣ ਕਾ ਗਾਹਕੁ ਹੋਇ ॥੭॥ True love shall not be broken, if the True Guru is met. Obtaining the wealth of spiritual wisdom, the understanding of the three worlds is acquired. So become a customer of merit, and do not forget the Immaculate Naam, the Name of the Lord. ||7||

Where is God?

ਮਨਮੁਹਿ ਸੋਝੀ ਨਾ ਪਵੈ ਗੁਰਮੁਹਿ ਸਦਾ ਹਜੂਹਰ ॥੫॥

Understanding does not come to the self-willed manmukh. But to the Gurmukh, the Lord is always close. ||5||

ਏਕਮ ਏਕੈ ਆਪੁ ਉਪਾਇਆ ॥ਦੁਹਿਧਾ ਦੂਜਾ ਹਤਰਹਿਹਧ ਮਾਇਆ॥ ਚਉਥੀ ਪਉੜੀ ਗੁਰਮੁਹਿ ਊਚੀ ਸਚੋ ਸਚੁ ਕਮਾਵਹਣਆ ॥੪॥

First, the One created Himself;

Second, the sense of duality;

Third, the three-phased Maya.

The fourth state, the highest, is obtained by the Gurmukh, who practices Truth, and only Truth. ||4|| 113

ਹਨਰੰਕਾਰ ਆਕਾਰ ਆਹਪ ਹਨਰਗੁਨ ਸਰਗੁਨ ਏਕ ॥

He Himself is Nirinkar and Akar and the

One is Nirgun and Surgun.

Surgun

ਗਉਨੁ ਗਗਨੁ ਜਿ ਤਿਹਹ ਨ ਹੋਤਉ ਹਤਰਭਵਣ ਜੋਹਤ ਆਪੇ ਹਨਰੰਕਾਰੁ ॥

When the world and the sky did not even exist,

the Light of Nirinkar filled the three worlds. 945

ਸਿਰ ਮੰਝ ਕਮਾਣ ਏ ਸਿਰੁ ਕਾ ਨੀਹਣੋ ॥ ਸਿਰ ਸੰਦਾ ਿਾਣੁ ਿਾਲਕੁ ਿਤਾ ਨ ਕਰੀ ॥੧੧੫॥ Within yourself, make patience the bow, and make patience the bowstring. Make patience the arrow, the Creator will not let you miss the target. ||115||1384

ਸਿਰ ਅੰਦਹਰ ਸਾਿਰੀ ਤਨੁ ਏਵੈ ਜਾਲੇਹਨਹਹ ॥ ਹੋਹਨ ਨਜੀਹਕ ਿੁਦਾਇ ਦੈ ਭੇਤੁ ਨ ਹਕਸੈ ਦੇਹਨ ॥੧੧੬॥

Those who are patient abide in patience; in this way, they burn their bodies. They are close to the Lord, but they do not reveal their secret to anyone. ||116|| 1384
