Kaysha is freshman middle blocker. Sheis from Puna, Hawaii on the island of Hilowhere she graduated from KamehamehaHigh School. She saw action in18 matches and averaged 1.75 kills per set.She attended Deweyville High School whereshe played volleyball, softball, cheer, trackand basketball. Her high school volleyballcareer includes being named freshman MVP,offensive MVP her sophomore year, districtMVP and all state her junior year, and districtMVP her senior year. Kennidee is an excellentstudent, named salutatorian of her highschool class, while earning student of themonth and honor society multiple times.She played club volleyball for HoustonJuniors. HEAD COACH

Danielle Essix is entering her second season as Head Volleyball Coach for the Lady Rebels. During her first

season at Lee College, the Lady Rebels won 10 games and finished 4 – 4 in Region XIV Conference play,

advancing to the 2018 Region Tournament. She oversees all aspects of the program, including recruiting,

technical support, scouting and game analysis, involvement in running summer camps, monitoring student

– athlete’s academic progress, conducting practices and handling administrative tasks. Prior to her arrival to

Lee College, Danielle spent two seasons (2016 – 2017) serving as the Assistant Coach for Blinn College. She

assisted Blinn to a 24 – 9 finish while placing first in the conference and fourth in the region.

Prior to her arrival to Blinn, Essix spent two years as an assistant coach at her alma mater, East Central

University. During her four – year career at East Central University, she finished ranked in the top 10 in 11

statistical categories, including seven spots in the top five. Essix ranks second in points (1,122.5), third in

matches played (123), second in attacks (3,062), second in kills (961) and second in digs (989). In her senior

season at East Central University, she led with 275 kills and 340 digs. Essix was named to the Second Team All

– Conference in the Great American Conference.

Before joining East Central University, Essix was a three-sport athlete at Commerce High School, lettering

in volleyball, basketball, and track, earning All – District awards every year. She is a Texas Sports Writers

Association All – State selection and named district MVP at Commerce High School.

Essix earned both her Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training and her Master of Education in sports

administration from East Central University.

Andy Heffele is entering his second season as the assistant coach for the Lady Rebels. A native of Minnesota,

he graduated from Eagan High School. Andy was a dual sport athlete participating in football and track.

He continued his track career at the University of Minnesota Duluth where he was an All – Conference

high jumper. After he relocated to Texas and before coming to Lee College, Andy coached high school

homeschool volleyball. In 2017, his team was the 16U national championship runner up. Andy also has

experience coaching club volleyball for TAV Houston. He has coached two teams at the USAV Girls Junior

National Championships. Andy graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of

THE PROGRAM Lee College volleyball program has competed in the NJCAA Division

I level since 1977. Throughout the years, the program has consistently

performed at a high level, earning high national rankings and receiving

many invitations to annual NJCAA national tournaments.

A new era is in store for the Lee College Lady Rebels Volleyball program.

The Lady Rebels come into the 2019 volleyball season with a new

coaching staff, new energy and new excitement. New Head Coach

Danielle Essix is pleased to report that she and her new team are working

well together. “They have done well with the things I’ve asked them to

change. They’ve been good teammates and they’re working hard.”

Coach Essix has set high goals for her new team, stating that she would

like to win Conference and Region this season. In addition to strong

performances on the court, the Lady rebels are expected to succeed off

of the court. “We want to make sure we are setting a good foundation

for our student – athletes. We want them to be able to graduate from

our program and move on to be successful.”

The 2019 Volleyball season will be exciting for both the fans and the

Lady Rebels.

SPORTS ARENA

& WELLNESS CENTER The Lady Rebels play in a state-of-the-art 26,000 square foot arena with

seating to accommodate 1,500 raging Rebel fans. The facility features

a 3,800 square foot wellness center, indoor walking track, VIP and

conference room, concession areas, and locker rooms fit for visiting

teams, Lee College students and employees.

Lee College athletes and students can use the Wellness Center by

joining classes that will help develop the body and strength they

choose to have. The Wellness Center provides a variety of weight

lifting equipment as well as treadmills, stationary bikes and stepper

machines.

Along with the Wellness Center, the Gymnasium has a complete weight

lifting facility that will accommodate the needs of anyone who likes to

use free weights.

DR. DENNIS BROWN Dr. Dennis Brown currently serves as the President of Lee College, a comprehensive community college of

6,500 credit students in Baytown, Texas, located 25 miles east of Houston. Lee College serves a population

of over 220,000 people in Baytown and its surrounding communities. Located in the center of the Texas

petrochemical industry, the college prepares workers for the ever increasing technologically based industry

led by ExxonMobil, Bayer, Chevron Phillips and Enterprise.

dent of Instruction at El Paso Community College (EPCC) in El Paso, Texas, before joining Lee College. He has

an Associate Degree from Arizona Western College, a Bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University, a

Master’s degree from Arizona State University, and a Ph.D. from New Mexico State University.

Graeme received his Bachelor of Human Movement Studies (Honors), from the University of Queensland in

Brisbane, Australia. He then moved to the United Sates, graduating from the University of Houston with his

MS in Exercise Science. He remained in Houston to continue martial arts training under Grandmaster Kim

Soo in Chayon-Ryu, where he attained his 4th degree Black Belt. He started teaching at Lee College in 1997

and has been Division Chair since 2007. In September 2018, Graeme was asked to serve the college as Athlet-
