How do we qualify?Enrollment is open to residents of Lee, Charlotte, and Collier Counties. The regular application period for August enrollment runs from January to August and, for January enrollment, from the last week in November through the second week in December. Families moving into the area can request special consideration by contacting our office at (239) 337-8178.

What do we need to learn at home?Willingness, enthusiasm and a desire to be more involved in your child’s education are all you need to get started. Lee Virtual School provides your child with all textbooks and lesson manuals needed for a full year of instruction.

The Calvert lesson manuals are designed with easy-to-use daily lessons and our certified teachers provide pacing charts to keep your child on track.

What comes with enrollment?All district provided services are available to virtual school students. That includes access to sports programs, and the local school center with computer labs and direct teacher instruction.

Does LVS have teachers?Lee Virtual School Supervising Teachers develop a personal relationship with each family; will plan and direct the learning program and provide instruction. Their role extends beyond daily activities to include live instruction, parent/teacher conferences, planning field trips, counseling and overseeing extracurricular activities.

Additionally, families have daily, free access to Calvert education counselors, available 8:00 to 5:30 daily. Calvert’s Education Counselors are expert curriculum specialists and work with you and the Supervising Teacher to address concerns, suggest alternative teaching strategies, and offer practical advice.

I don’t want my child to sit at home in front of a computer all day.

Neither do we. That’s why the Calvert curriculum uses textbooks along with online resources. Lee Virtual School offers field trips and other fun learning experiences. There are many opportunities to network with other families and meet the LVS staff. Families in virtual school report feeling a stronger connection with teachers than they had in the traditional school setting.
