LEELANAU CHRISTIAN NEIGHBORS LCN: Under One Roof! On April 19, the moving truck brought the rest of the office equipment that finalized the move of the Neighborhood Assistance Ministry (NAM) to Suttons Bay Schools, joining Suttons Bay Food Pantry and Blessings in a Backpack. NAM continues to assist our neighbors in emergency financial situations. January and February 2013 were quite busy with assistance with rent, utilities and heating expenses. NAM has also been able to help assist with car repairs and registration in order to help neighbors maintain employment or continue job searches. An Open House will be held later this spring. After twelve years of service as the head of Neighborhood Assistance Ministry, Karl Marsh passed the torch to Kathy Laba. Karl’s presence on Mondays is greatly missed by interviewers and neighbors alike. In a letter to Karl, LCN’s president Chuck Cady expressed the following sentiments: ”During your tenure, NAM has evolved in size and scope. The structure and number of volunteers has grown, but has successfully maintained a strong culture of thoughtfulness and sensitivity toward our volunteers and our neighbors. Clearly, you have left NAM in good condition with an above average complement of dedicated interviewers.” Thank you Karl, for your compassionate dedication to NAM.
