Öhlins suspension 46 URYour Öhlins shock absorber type 46 UR featuresthe followinging adjusters:

Rebound dampingAdjuster tool is inserted from top of the shockabsorber.

Spring preloadAdjustment made by screws om cylinder house.Use C-spanner.

When delivered the Öhlins shock absorber isdialed to recommended settings for the specificbrand and make of the car. If you have changedthe setting check like this: The adjusters have a normal right hand tread.Turn clockvise to fully closed. Turn counter clock-wise to open and count the clicks until you reachthe recommended number of clicks. Do not use to much force, delicate sealingsurfaces can be damaged.

NOTE!Make sure that all bolts are tightened to the cor-rect torque and that nothing fouls or restrictsmovement of the shock absorber when the sus-pension is being fully compressed or extended.

12Reassemble the sway bar and continue yourwork according to Owners manual, Adjust-ments.

10Fit the adjuster key to the top of the leftshock absorber, after the upper bracket isthightened. Put left and right units back fromunderneath the car and fix the three bracketnuts from the inside of the luggage com-partment.

NOTE!Before the shock absorber on theleft side is fitted, the adjuster de-vice/key MUST be in position.Whenthe shock absorber is mounted thefuel lines will make it impossible tofit the tool.

11Attach the lower bracket to the link arm andpreload the spring. The distance betweenthe upper surface of the cylinder head res-ervoir and the lower surface of the springplatform should be 11 mm.

Similarly, the warranty will become null and voidif the instructions are not adhered to.

WARNING!1. It´s advisable to have an Öhlins dealer or otherqualified person to fit your shock absorber.2. Instructions in the vehicle service manual areto be followed when changing the shock ab-sorber.3. When working on a lifted vehicle it must besecurely supported to prevent it from falling.

Mounting instruction

1Lift the car so the rear wheels are clear ofthe ground. Make sure it´s steadily fixed soit will not fall down.

2Remove the covers in the luggage compartmentby pulling the plugs out. Remove the sparewheel.

CAUTION!The washer must be in position to prevent theend piece from penetration of the rubber at thetop mount.

NOTE!Before attaching upper bracket loosen the springplatform as much as possible by turning it down-wards.

9Attach the upper bracket to the Öhlins shockabsorber and tighten the centre nut.

3Loosen the two nuts holdning the uppershock absorber bracket on each side

4Loosen the lower shock absorber attachmenton the link arm.

5Loosen the lower sway bar attachments, sothe wheels can be lowered.

6Remove the stock shock absorbers.

7Preload the spring, so the upper nut,holdning the upper bracket, can be turnedloose. Remove the bracket.

8Fit the washer (05860-01) and the springsupport sleeve (05856-01) provided into theupper bracket. Fit the spring to the Öhlinsshock absorber.
