‘It’s essential to make plans for your money

after you die. It’s not pleasant to think about,

but we should all do it – I certainly have. I want

to ensure that my money and possessions go to

my family, friends and the causes close to my

heart, such as the Family Holiday Association.

‘Once you have remembered your loved ones

in your Will, please consider leaving a legacy

to the Family Holiday Association. It really will

make a huge difference to the lives of many

disadvantaged families and their children.’

John Carter, a well-known travel writer and TVpresenter, has worked on the BBC’s Holidayprogramme, Thames Television’s Wish you werehere..? and was a regular contributor to Radio2’s Jimmy Young Show. Time2Care, a millenniumproject for the Family Holiday Association, wasJohn’s idea. This project sent almost 2,500children living in care on a week’s holiday – formany the first they have ever had.

‘As a travel journalist and

TV presenter I have visited many

places, at home and abroad, and

spent time with holidaymakers. I

have seen, first-hand, how

essential a holiday is to everyone.

We should all have the opportunity

to escape from our everyday lives and

problems, escape to somewhere new and

exciting, to enjoy ourselves, relax and have fun.

‘The Family Holiday Association is the only

national charity specialising in providing

holidays to disadvantaged families and their

children. I support the charity because it

provides a unique, much-needed service.

Without the Family Holiday Association,

hundreds of families would never be able to

take the holiday they so desperately need

and deserve.

‘Leaving a legacy really is the gift of a lifetime,

and it will make a difference. Leaving money to

the Family Holiday Association means you will

be helping families disadvantaged by poverty,

illness and disability to have a holiday and get

away from the stress and strains of daily life.

You’ll be giving them time together to laugh

and the opportunity to return with precious,

happy memories to be treasured.

Why make a Will?Every year thousands of people in the UK diewithout leaving a Will. They have no say about themoney and belongings they leave behind. This cancause problems and anxiety for relatives andfriends, and the Inland Revenue may take a largeproportion of their assets.
