Introducing...The LPE Fourth Grade Team
Legacy Point Elementary
Beacon
Learn, Live, Love, Laugh & Leave A Legacy
Their faces and names are familiar...but their current teaching role isn’t! Let’s (re)meet our 4th grade team! Mrs. Peterson loves the leadership atmosphere at Legacy Point! She is part of the original crew who opened Legacy Point back in 2003. She has spent the last 21 years of her career introducing our youngest learners to the joy of learning through her experience as a Kindergarten teacher! She lives in Parker with her army husband and cute black dog, Molly. Their two boys are in college at The University of Northern Colorado. (Go Bears!) She is a knitter, exerciser, and lover of anything outside. She loves the Leader in Me and the life skills the 7 Habits bring to life for not only her students, for her her as well! Mrs. Waufle has also been a member of the LPE community since the school opened in 2003. After spending the past 11 years as a Special Education teacher, she is so excited to be back in the general education setting. She lives in Parker with her husband Darren, their daughter Kaity, who is attending Colorado State University this fall as a freshman, and their son JT who is a junior at Legend High School. She can be found in the lower level with her “Breakfast of Champions” as they work hard to learn all there is to know about 4th grade and how to further their leadership skills! As promised a bit more about the 4th grade teacher, Ms. Broyer… She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 2015 with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in reading. She grew up in the midwest and enjoys spending as much time as she can outdoors in Colorado! When she’s not working she loves spending time with her friends and family!

December Habit/Home-School Connection: Habit 3 - Put First Things First
While Habit 3 and its message “Work first, then play,” seems like the easiest one to understand it’s actually a bit more than that! Habit 3 is all about prioritization and knowing what the highest priorities are so we can focus on them, so we can eliminate the unimportant. It’s a bit more tricky but can really help bring out the leader in all of us! Some things we can do, as families, to help us “Put First Things First” include: • Establish daily routines • Eliminate clutter • Saying “no” to less important things so we can say “yes” to important things • Create time to plan By putting first things first, we can identify our Big Rocks and create an action plan to achieve those. A fun video which illustrates this concepts is linked here. If you need some topics of conversation around the dinner table or in the car as you are shuttling your students around town, consider these questions… • What are your roles this week? What are some things you can do for your role? • How do you organize your time? Your room? Your homework? • How did you show courage or consideration this week?

December Events
The month of December was super-busy at Legacy Point! Here’s a peek into our exciting month!!
We started our events with our annual Pancake Breakfast, hosted by our
fabulous PTIB and provided by Flippin’ Flapjacks. This delicious
breakfast was made possible by our Student Lighthouse Council who
welcomed guests, kept the tables clear, and made sure that everyone had
plenty to eat.
Visitors to the Pancake Breakfast were treated to holiday carols sung by our very own LPE Choir!
After our tummies were full, we moved to the gym for our December Leadership Assembly. We honored 12 students
(2 from each grade level) with the coveted “A Leader Lives Here” signs, and Student Lighthouse Council presented a
Habit 3 Leadership Lesson to help us show “Courage and Consideration” during the holiday season. We also
experienced “the wave” a “roller coaster” and sang some winter-themed songs! One of the most rambunctious activities
during the assembly was the judging of the annual staff Ugly Sweater Contest by the student body!

The end of the second semester is usually highlighted by coming together and sharing delicious food. The LPE staff
celebrated the holidays with a breakfast in the Library on December 19th. Ms. Ward, Mrs. Bush, Mrs. VanDoozer, Mr.
Jacob, Mrs. Traci, Mrs. Knox, Mrs. Conn, and Mr. Colson helped to create a festive atmosphere with decorations, music,
and fun Julklapp activities!
The Library was beautiful and
festive in preparation for the Staff
Breakfast!
A delicious breakfast was enjoyed by all!
Mr. Colson was our “Yule Goat” or “Julbocken” who handed out the
Secret Santa gifts.
Mrs. Corr was so excited to get her Secret Santa gift from the LPE
Julbocken!
