legal & general perfects training & certification using saba
TRANSCRIPT
Case Study
The Legal & General Group, established in 1836, is one of the UK’s leading financial services companies. As of 30 June 2011, they were responsible for investing £370 billion worldwide on behalf of investors, policyholders and shareholders and had over seven million customers in the UK for life assurance, pensions, investments and general insurance plans. Legal & General is also one of the biggest providers of index-tracking investments in the UK, managing £232 billion as at 30 June 2011.
In the early 2000s, Legal & General was finding it increasingly challenging to ensure its employees and sales agents were completing the training and obtaining the necessary certifications required to operate in a heavily regulated industry.
“Before using Saba Learning Management Suite, employees and business partners were expected to complete their training and
print their own certificates at the end of each course,” said Gerry Simpson, HR Technology Manager with Legal & General. “That simply wasn’t a very realistic way to ensure people were getting the training they needed.”
Managing the Learning Process More Effectively
Legal & General has implemented the Saba Learning Management Suite 5.5 SP1 in the Cloud. Calling it “The Learning Network,” Legal & General relies on Saba to manage and track learning provided to more than 8,000 licensed agents and employees annually.
Business partners must be re-tested and certified on the firm’s licensed products every two years and these assessments are now fully tracked within Saba Learning Management Suite to ensure a complete picture of learning and assessment is maintained in a single place.
“Saba Learning Management Suite provides us an accurate picture of what training has been completed by our employees and business partners.” commented Simpson.
