Training outcomes Delegates will receive high-quality training in health and safety laws, welfare, risk assessments, work equipment, manual handling, handling hazardous substances, heights, vehicles, noise and vibration. Duration One day. Assessment At the end of the training delegates will be required to complete a 30-question multiple choice examination. A score of 20 correct answers is required for a pass. Progression Delegates could look at a career in health and safety after undertaking further training. Progression to the Intermediate Certificate in Supervising Health and Safety and Risk. Health and Safety Award Course Codes: C0801 Fees: £70 Start Date: Any time through the year Level: 1 What is the training about? This flexible roll-on/roll-off course provides you with details of the health and safety principles, which apply to work environments. Who should attend? There are no academic requirements for this course, though delegates should attend an Initial Advice and Guidance session. Training outcomes This course is broken down in to four key areas: understand the importance of health and safety procedures, understand the key rights and responsibilities relating to health and safety, an awareness of potential hazards and the conditions that can cause risk, and identify safe practices and protective equipment Duration 10 hours. Assessment Assessment is via examinations. Progression On completion of this course you could progress further by enrolling on a workskills award, short vocational programme. IOSH – Managing Safely Certificate

Course Code: C0512 Fees: £380 Start Date: 9 December 2014 Level: 3

Course Code: C0440 Fees: £380 Start Date: 16 June 2015 Level: 3

What is the training about?This training offers a step-by-step guide to carrying out the key health and safety activities that managers might be responsible for and gives practical skills for use in the workplace.

Who should attend?Supervisors and managers with supervisory responsibility for health and safety.

Training outcomesBy the end of the training, employees should be able to:• explain “managing safely”• describe how to integrate systems successfully• describe statutory requirements for reporting and

procedures for checking non-reporting• define hazards and risks and describe the legal

requirements for risk assessment.

DurationOne week: 9am to 5pm for four days.

AssessmentAssessment is by examination.

ProgressionEmployees could seek to pursue a career in managing health and safety with additional training at Level 3.

Manual HandlingCertificate

Course Code: C0252 Fees: £120 Start Date: Any time through the year Level: 2

What is the training about?It is designed to meet the specific needs of retailers and supply chain organisations where staff are required to lift and carry stock.

Who should attend?There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Training outcomesThe course will cover manual handling techniques, health and safety regulations, lifting large items such as mattresses and furniture and tips and techniques for preventing work place injuries and it has been designed with the specific needs of retailers in mind.

DurationOne day.

AssessmentNo standardised assessment.

ProgressionEmployees can progress to a health and safety qualification such as IOSH managing safely or retail vocational qualification. This training will also help employees to be more confident in lifting and health and safety in the workplace.

NEBOSH ConstructionCertificate

Course Code: C0516 Fees: £1,575 Start Date: 13 January 2015 Level: 3

What is the training about?This training looks at potential hazards to Health and Safety specifically within construction and upskills employees on maintaining a safe working environment.

Who should attend?This training is aimed at supervisors, managers and construction design and manager (CDM) coordinators within the construction industry who are required to ensure that activities under their control are undertaken safely.

Training outcomesEmployees can expect to cover units on the management of health and safety, managing and controlling hazards in construction activities and construction health and safety practical application.

DurationOne day a week for 20 weeks.

AssessmentThere are two, 2-hour written exams and one practical.

ProgressionEmployees can progress to the NEBOSH Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety. The qualification is accepted by IOSH – the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health – in meeting the academic requirements for Technician membership of IOSH (Tech IOSH).

NEBOSH National General Certificate

Course Code: C0513 Fees: £1,075 Start Date: 2 September 2014 Level: 3

Course Code: C0514 Fees: £1,075 Start Date: 4 March 2015 Level: 3

What is the training about?This is the first stage in a full-time career in Health and Safety as a Health and Safety manager. The training is broken down into three units as follows: • the Management of Health and Safety • controlling Hazards • practical application of Health and Safety skills.

Each unit can be studied individually. Please enquire about individual unit cost.

Who should attend?Those who wish to become health and safety practitioners or managers, supervisors and sole proprietors who need to demonstrate competency.

Training outcomesThe training helps delegates to manage risks effectively. Many delegates take the NEBOSH Certificate as a first step on a career in Health and Safety. It provides a valuable overview, and is a sound basis for further professional study.

Duration9pm to 5pm, one day per week for 15 weeks.

AssessmentAssessment is through exams.

Occupational Health and Safety in Practice Diploma

Course Code: C1175 Fees: £1,959 Start Date: Any time through the year Level: 5

What is the training about?This training covers the development, promotion and monitoring of procedures to control health and safety in the workplace.

Who should attend?This training is intended for managers and others who are practising health and safety within the workplace such as health and safety managers, officers or advisors. The training can lead on to chartered membership of IOSH providing that your employee passes their selection criteria.

Training outcomesBy the end of the training, employees should be able to:• ensure their own actions reduce risks to Health and Safety• monitor and develop procedures to control and assess

risks to Health and Safety• promote a Health and Safety culture within the workplace• investigate and evaluate incidents and complaints in

the workplace• ensure their actions aim to protect the environment.

Duration12 to 24 months.

AssessmentAssessment is continuous.

ProgressionEmployees could progress to an undergraduate or a masters degree in occupational health and safety or a diploma in health and safety.
