Obtain information from a poem

LESSON OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:- Read the poem with correct intonation and pronunciation- Able to paraphrase each stanza using their own words

ACTIVITIES i) Pre-reading activities:- Read short captions on 3 pictures of a father figure.- Question 1: What is the person doing?- Question 2: Explain what is he doing in the picture.- Question 3: How would you describe this character?- ii) Reading Activities

- Reading aloud activity- The teacher recites the poem.- Pair work: Students recite the poem between the two of

them.- One students will recite the poem for the whole class.

iii) Paraphrasing Stanzas -Divide students into groups to discuss the literal meaning for each stanza.-The teacher initiates the figurative meaning from the whole class.Post Reading

- Students will come out with a poem to appreciate their mothers.
