Theme: People and Social Issues Topic: What if? LO: Language for Interpersonal Use Objectives: By the end of this lesson, students are able to: a) Identify the concept of writing a story-beginning, middle and ending b) Use wh-questions to develop an idea c) Write a story beginning with ‘The day was different then before’ Activity: Pair writing Steps: 1. The teacher presents the concept of writing a story 2. The teacher describes an example of a short story developed with beginning, middle and ending. 3. The teacher asks students to identify which questions answer each part of the story. 4. The teacher asks students to have a piece of paper 5. The teacher now presents the beginning of the story 6. The teacher then asked each student to write a sentence continuing the beginning. Each student is given a minute to do so 7. Then the student passes the paper and the next student continues with the sentence. 8. After 5 rounds, the teacher presents another sentence and asks the students to write them down 9. Then, the students are asked to continue the sentence and pass it to the other student 10. The students are then selected to read their final story.
