LESSON PLAN – JOLLY PHONICSThis lesson plan is designed to work all the individual letters and sounds inthe jolly phonics I have decided to work all of them the same way tocreate a sense of continuity and systematic process so that little by littlethey will always know what we are doing and therefore automaticity aswell.

Introducing

• First of all is presenting the sound to the students. Todo this the first page of the Notebook has a posterwith word, a picture representing that word andthe written form both capital and small letter.

Action +Song

• Explain we are going to listen to a song thatbelongs to the sound we haver previously talkedabout.

• Once we haver listend to the song I will explain theletter movement and practice it a little beforjoining it to the song .

Recognizing

• To check if they can recognize and descriminatethe sound we would play with the "I spy.." activiy.

• While doing this we could hold up a flashcard sothey can start to assosiate the specific sound to itswritten form.

Writting

• With the sound song in the background, tell thechildren to practice drawing the letter in the air, ontheir partners back or coming up to the board andtrace the once on the Notebook activity screen.

There are some extra sounds such as ou/ow or oi/oy for instance, thatwould explain with reinforcement activities such as alphabet soups, vowelforests…

When it comes to working with vowel teams and consonant digraphs I willuse doorbells activities to explain the idea that for 2 letters there is only onesound.

Alphabet book

I would create a class alphabet book and the children each their ownwhere thy woud inset all the worksheets and activities they havecompleted of each letter.

Group Sequence

When finished the group we have been working on I would prepare awhole group sequence to start segmenting and blending with low techand high tech activities.
