Lesson Plan K-12a Unit 15-5 Review Objectives: Ss will review and practice vocabulary from Unit 13 Vocabulary. Method: T-Ss NS RHR Materials: none Procedure: Step 1: Greet Ss and select S1 to come to the front. Step 2: S1 gives a definition of a word from Unit 13. The rest of the class guesses what the word is. For example, “It is an animal. It has a long tail. It can be a good pet.” Step 3: The first S to guess correctly gets to give definition to the class in the next round. Vocabulary words in Unit 13: A cat, a puppy, a bird, a snake, a frog, a kitten, a tree, a rock, a branch, a leaf, a flower, grass, black boots, a red tomato, green grapes, a yellow taxi, a brown hat, a blue blanket Introduction Objectives: Ss will recall vocabulary and language in Unit 15 Listening Part 2. Method: T-Ss Materials: PPT: images of colors and animals Procedure: Step 1: Sit Ss around the table and then show slide. Step 2: Ss have two minutes to match the colors with the animals. Step 3: Pair up Ss and have them take turns to describe the animals to each other. For example, “This is a cute little puppy. It is a white puppy. It likes to go outside and play.” Activity 1 Objectives: Ss will recall language in Unit 15 Dialog 1. Method: T-S-S Materials: PPT: images from Unit 15 Dialog 1 Procedure: Step 1: Pair up Ss and then show slide. Step 2: Give Ss 2-3 minutes to work individually to put the images in the correct order. Then they compare their answers with their partner. Step 3: Check the correct order with the class. Step 4: Have pairs role play the dialog.

Objectives: Ss will review and practice language from Unit 15 Listening Part 2. Method: S-Ss –TTT NS SCM Materials: crayons, various pictures of animals Procedure: Step 1: Sit Ss around the table. Hand out pictures of animals. Step 2: Give Ss two minutes to color the animals. Step 3: Ss walk around the classroom to present their drawings to the rest of the class. Instruct them to give a 1 minute presentation to their classmates, including their physical features, habits, and their owners’ responsibilities. Step 4: Invite some Ss who have done well to present their drawings to the rest of the class.

Objectives: Ss will recall and personalize language of time sequence of an event in Unit 15 Dialog 1. Method: T-Ss –TTT SCM Materials: PPT: prompts of useful expressions, paper, pens or pencils Procedure: Step 1: Hand out sheets of paper to Ss and then give them two minutes to recall an important event in their past. Step 2: T models by talking about a past event in his/her life. For example, “I remember ….” Step 3: Pair up Ss and then ask them to take turns to tell their partner the event in sequence. They should use the language in the courseware. For example, “I remember the first time I went swimming. At first, I was too afraid to go into the water. But my mom kept encouraging me. I looked around and saw so many people enjoying themselves in the water, so later I decided to jump in the water. It was a lot of fun when I could finally swim on my own.” Step 3: If time allows, have some Ss stand up and share their stories with the rest of the class.
