I inform you that I have retired from the post of General Secretary of All

India Overseas Bank Employees Union !resident of "ational Union Of

demands my time and attention today throu)h my letter to the union* I do

not (ish to haran)ue you (ith any specifics*

I came to the union movement more so to our union life &y choice and not

&y chance in pursuance of some ideals convictions and mission* I dra(

)reat satisfaction upon havin) accomplished some of them as I leave the

office of General Secretary of All India Overseas Bank Employees Union* *

I reassure myself that this is only a fraction of the (orld that has received

my attention stren)th and adulation for a lon) lon) time* I do not (ish to

haran)ue you throu)h this mail (ith any specifics*

I have &een summin) up for less fortunate all these days . "o( I havesummed up my association (ith union (hich had &een an inte)ral part of

(ork life im&alance for over -. years* /y a&rupt decision to deunionise

from the union (ork has provided me ne( leaf of lifestyle to reunionise

(ith my family (ho have &een e0tended family of my union*

A year ago I had written the summing up of my life actions

including my life in the union. Euphemistically one call it even the

mana)ement and the union* $his model that I had adopted all throu)h my

tenure cannot &e re=ected for its simplicity for (hat each one of us need to

deeds$ dedication and devotion all through my '5 years in the union

movement to my members (then I have no right to leave a message

today which could come from my heart at the fag end of my trade union

life. . )he greatest tribute my union could pay me and our fraternity is

to maintain healthy traditions and continue to march.

I note (ith satisfaction that our union has today )ro(n &y leaps and

&ounds and is in the van)uard of every stru))le launched &y &ank

employees* /any thin)s have &een done &y our union for &etterment

staff *&ut ( had looked &eyond the normal portals of union (orld of

immediate demands and issues of mem&ers alone and has strived to

contri&ute for the &etterment of society undertakin) community

development pro=ects and social pro=ects form time to time* Amon) many

thin)s (e have done for mem&ers and society I (ill considerone lac treeplannin) pro)ramme (hich (e undertook in five southern district spendin)

(a)es as fulltime messen)ers I (ill consider as si)nificant*

After all in life also many thin)s happen (ithout )ivin) a sense of

totality* And then the hori,on is &eckonin) us (ith ever e0pandin)

possi&ilities* 'e &e)in the fresh =ourney in our union after reachin)

superannuation from the &anks services (ith faith in our heart and speed in

our muscles* And if (e take )lory in anythin) it is that our (hole life has

&een dedicated to service of our mem&ers and for espousin) trade union

cause* @I say a)ain and a)ain to our mem&ers that our foremost aim is to

maintain our unity and indivisi&ility* 'hen (e attend your pro&lems (e

only e0ercise our po(er (hich )oes on increasin) (ith every application

and is never lessened *It is not that you )et somethin) today and tomorro(

I reali,e the union has miles to )o as ne( pro&lems come up ne(

challen)es arise ne( solutions have to &e found ne( advances have to &e

re)istered and ne( facts and even ne( statistical material have to &e taken

note of and to &e a&le to keep pace (ith it there has to &e continuous and

additional chan)e in study and trade union education and its approach to

modern social dilemmas** I recall here my earlier o&servation that I never

thou)ht of myself havin) a complete )rasp of anythin) ideas thou)hts acts

or &ehaviour* I am an ordinary human (ith more i)norance and defaults than

thou)ht of &y others* /y personal life (as mostly pu&lic and little private*

On the darker side I nurse a feelin) that I could not inspire develop any one

manifestin) my thou)ht my thou)ht deeds and actions in the union*

$he union movement is my first love* Separation from this love the

fraternity is therefore all the more painful*
