That clothing line for horticulture and agriculture businesses has now finally arrived: Greenwear. A brand that meets all the needs & wishes that growers, packaging companies and other companies may have with regard to their workwear. Functional and sound, without sacrificing appearance. Unisex, so suitable for both men and women. Available in a wide range of colours to match your house style and responsibly manufactured in Europe.

Developed in NL with renowned companies Greenwear was not just developed for the agriculture & horticulture sector, it was developed with the sector. Various renowned companies contributed their ideas to the development process and helped test our workwear, resulting in a workwear brand that was literally tailored to the sector. Greenwear can also withstand antiviral washing processes. Speaking of washing, our clothes have faster drying times, making more frequent washing a realistic option.

Workwearfor growingcompaniesIn the past, there was no such thing as a clothing line developed especially for the horticultureand agriculture sector, even though working in greenhouses and packaging facilities makes high demands on the quality of clothing. It is important that people have access to breathable, comfortable clothing that lasts a long time and does not discolour.

The Greenwear collection:for all greenhouse settings

Speciallyselected fabrics

This is the guiding philosophy behind the Greenwear collection. Made from fabrics specially selected for horticulture:

• Tops made of fast-drying fabrics• Open-weave fabrics for excellent breathability• Colourfast, virtually shrink-proof and non-iron, winkle-resistant fabrics• High comfort due to an ideal fit• Lasts at least 150-200 washes• Extra large size tab to speed up the laundry process Perfectly dressed men and women The basic Greenwear collection consists of unisex garments available in sizes XXS - 7XL. The collection has been developed with an eye to optimal cost efficiency for employers, featuring a range of unisex garments instead of many different models and fits. As a result, employers can simply buy a single type of shirt and trousers to fit all their employees, and employees can choose to simply wear a size larger or smaller if they prefer. Tops are available in every (Pantone) colour imaginable. Trousers can be produced in 72 different colours and we can add any logo or text you may want to your workwear.

Antiviral laundering,a must for workwear

Until recently, there were only two proven methods of effective antiviral laundering: washing clothes at 90° or adding 10% chlorine to the detergent. Most clothing simply cannot withstand these temperatures and chemicals or becomes uncomfortably heavy and warm as a result. That is why we have developed a special antiviral laundering process for Greenwear.

Industrial washing machineNot all washing machines support antiviral laundering. Moreover, standard washing machines are simply not accurate enough. For true antiviral laundering, the machine has to administer exactly the right amount of detergent and was clothing at exactly the right temperature. Machine capacity is also very important, as you will often have to wash large volumes at once. This is why industrial washing machines are crucial to prevent transfer of deceases.

Ervaring in professionele textielverzorgingWe have now helped set up various customers and

colleagues with brand new systems, workwear and chemical processes. Greenwear can advise you on the best system for you. Whether you decide to purchase the machines and clothing yourself or opt for a lease agreement, we can offer various tools to provide insight into the best option for you. Since the start, Greenwear has worked with Christeyns, our laundry programme supplier with the necessary chemical know-how. They, too, have a long track record in the industry and can perfectly adapt to a wide range of different situations.

Wat heeft u nodig voor uw eigen ‘cleanroom’?• An industrial washing machine and dryer, both with sufficient capacity for your company• Programmable, the ability to adjust volume for use• Sampling valve• Automatic detergent dosing

Extensive guidanceChristeyns’s specialists will help you set up your very own laundry system. Configuring and validating your hardware, for instance, is essential for an optimal laundry process. After the initial setup, you can continue to count on the necessary expertise. With its very own software program, Christeyns can monitor your washing machine remotely. If you want maximum certainty that your laundering process is effective as can be, take out a subscription for so-called DES monitoring. Next, simply add a DES monitor to your laundry once a month and send it to the lab for analysis, in order to be assured that your laundry is not just clean, but virus-free.

Would you rather outsource the laundry process?Would you prefer to outsource your entire laundry process? Having been in the business for years, we at Greenwear know exactly which laundry service provider can meet all your needs. We can oversee the entire process, if you prefer, and serve as a single point of contact for all your questions about chemistry, hardware and your workwear.

This is what it coststo launder workwear

Actually washing the clothes is an important part of the process. Much has been said about the quality and lifespan of our clothing, but we are yet to address the laundry process. Costs are an especially interesting aspect. Seeing as laundry costs are recurring costs, we have been able to use historical user data to make some calculations.Important data include the weight of the garments, as less weight makes it possible to wash more garments per load. This ultimately results in a lower price per kg/garment due to reduced water, detergent and power use. Other important factors include drying time and ease of processing, and this is where the materials and clear size tabs of Greenwear clothing translate into considerable benefits.

This calculation is based on the following:• Number of employees

• Number of days a week• Machine fill rate: 80%• Total weight in kg per year• Hardware depreciation• Water, electricity and detergent• Laundry processing time

These calculations show that you can save up to 50% on laundry costs alone. If you update the calculations with the data for your own company, you can find out just how much you could save. 240 employees and a Greenwear collectionTotal laundry costs per year: € 36.953,28240 employees and a basic collection Total laundry costs per year: € 73.828,44

Greenwear items are lighter, which does not only affect the total weight of your laundry, but also the required

water and detergent capacity, as well as the machines you will have to purchase. Alternative clothing is more difficult to process because it takes longer to dry and because it is less easy to tell apart different sizes. This can result into productivity losses of up to 20 kg an hour. Even if we adjust this downward to 10 kg, the difference would still amount to more than € 27,000 per year.

'Greenwear gave usmore freedom of choice'

’Workwear is essential to keep the company healthy& free of disease’

When did workwear become an issue for you? ‘In 2009, Beekenkamp started buying its workwear from XL. In 2008, the first cases of CMM (Clavibacter Michiganensis Michiganensis), a bacterial disease, cropped up in the tomato chain. Subsequently, seed breeders and plant growers set up a hygiene label to prevent Cmm in tomato seeds and seedlings: GSPP, which stands for Good Seed and Plant Practices. This label is focused on risk management in response to four threats: seeds

and plant material, water, other materials and people. Workwear is connected to the latter and is therefore an essential instrument in the fight to keep diseases out of the company.

Why did you decide to outsource your laundry process?‘We work with a laundry service provider that specialises in the very best laundry protocols and has all the necessary certification. As a result, we can be assured of optimal antiviral processes

Beekenkamp Group has grown into a major consortium with over 2,600 employees worldwide. Beekenkamp companies work with vegetable, pot and bedding plants, packaging and chrysanthemums.

and maximum workwear lifespan. In addition, they offer a good, flexible pickup and delivery service for all our branches.’

What advice would you give to fellow growers looking to minimise the risk of contamination?‘Set up a clear routing with predefined disinfection procedures and maintain a strict separation between dirty and clean zones, from the very point that employees enter the premises until they reach the green zone - the greenhouse or packaging facility. This reduces the risk of contamination and cross-contamination'

What was your main reason for going with Greenwear?‘The quality of cheaper trousers was a problem for us. At our request, Green-wear designed a pair of trousers that better met needs and wishes in terms of quality, comfort and longevity. On top of that, the collection comes in a range of colours. Because Beekenkamp operates three locations, each of which has its own colour scheme, we appreciated the freedom of choice this gave us.’

What collection are you wearing now?‘Our own employees wear trousers with a polo shirt and temporary workers wear T-shirts, with each agency given a different colour for greater recognisability. In winter, they may wear a sweater, whereas they can switch to shorts in summer. Employees of the technical services department wear overalls. We would always recommend going for quality. It will eventually pay for itself in better colour retention and a longer lifespan.’

How have you experienced Greenwear workwear compared to other collections?'Above all, we’ve seen an increase in comfort. Employees just feel happywearing it.’

Starting from humble beginnings in 2000, XL Bedrijfskleding has now become a renowned workwear specialist. The ‘XL’ certainly applies to the company’s customer base, with at least 1,750 companies wearing the workwear provided by this Maasdijk-based supplier. To make this happen, a team of eight employees work day in, day out.

How did you find Greenwear? ‘We have been working with the same supplier for years, who also uses some of the same fabrics Greenwear uses. We frequently heard people ask why there wasn’t any special workwear available, tailored specifically to greenhouse horticulture. After all, working under glass puts specific demands on clothing, just as painters, builders and chefs have special workwear. This demand ultimately led to the creation of the Greenwear brand and we joined as a dealer. Because we have an enormous customer base in and around the greenhouse horticulture sector,

getting started with this endeavour was a very interesting prospect for us.’

What sets Greenwear apart from other suppliers?‘It is a clothing line that was specially developed for greenhouse horticulture. The breathability of the clothing, the universal fit, the large range of sizes and the long lifespan are a perfect combination. Greenwear looks at the best, not the cheapest way to put together a collection. In practice, the products have been very well received by all sorts of customers.’

How have you experienced working with Greenwear?‘We are very satisfied. We have already received plenty of requests for leggings, shirts and overalls, after which Greenwear quickly manufactures samples that we can look at together. If the samples meet the customer’s criteria, as well as our own, the item is included in the collection. We are very happy with how quickly they can shift into gear. On top of that,

Greenwear never seeks to avoid bumps in the road. Rather, they start working on a concrete solution right away.’

What can we expect from your partnership in the future?‘We will remain closely involved in the development of new products, fabrics and designs. Recently, we worked on a great new replacement for disposable overalls and dust jackets: a durable solution that could immediately be manufactured in a range of colours and versions.’

Why are you a suitable dealer for Greenwear? ‘From our prime location in the Westland, we really have our finger on the pulse. Besides, because we all know a grower or two, we have a close connection to the industry. At XL, we like working with regular suppliers that we feel good about and can rely on. True partners, you might say.’

Bryte came into being in 2019 after a merger between two renowned growers in Westland and Voorne-Putten. Bryte uses a total area of 40 hectares to cultivate tasty tomatoes.

How did you find the Greenwear brand?‘XL Bedrijfskleding has been our workwear partner for years. They supported us throughout the various steps of the process of making workwear available to our staff, and also helped with laundry. Last year, we decided to develop a full Bryte wardrobe.’

How did you decide whether to outsource the laundry process or to do it yourself?‘Initially, we decided out outsource our laundry processes. Later on, we started investigating how much it would cost us to do it ourselves, and it turned out to be the cheaper option.’

What is it like to operate your ‘own’ laundry, have you encountered any bottlenecks?‘Our own laundry facility is running great. We set up a single facility for all seven branches, which allowed us to invest in high-quality machinery. We received a great deal of support in setting up the laundry system, from logistics to the actual laundry process. Thanks to Christeyns, we have implemented an antiviral laundry process, which was a key step for us. As everyone knows, the ToBRFV virus has had a major impact on tomato growers.’ What does your collection look like?‘We decided to take a very wide approach, investing in plenty of products for all our employees. This includes winter and summer clothing, such as trousers and shorts, shirts, long-sleeved and short-sleeved T-shirts, sweaters and caps.’

What advice would you give to your colleagues? ‘First, you have to determine how your company is faring in terms of hygiene. There are many choices to make when it comes to clothing. Which workwear should you invest in and how much are you willing to spend? Is centralised or decentralised laundry moreinteresting for your company? Above all, you have to thinkabout logistics. How-ever, thorough research and the right partners will get you a long way.’

’The fabric has a special weave toensure optimal breathability’How did you find Greenwear? ‘In the past, Marco Kassenberg, breeding stock manager at Dümmen Orange, had worked at a plant grower who had had very positive experiences with Greenwear and XL Bedrijfskleding. After making the switch to Dümmen Orange, he decided to implement Greenwear in the work processes here too. Dümmen Orange and XL were already working together at the time, albeit with different products.’

What does your collection look like?‘For our employees, every day starts them with donning their workwear in accordance with our very own Greencare hygiene protocol. We use a different colour each day, so that we can monitor whether all employees are actually wearing clean clothing. We now offer our employees short and long-sleeve T-shirts, trousers and shorts.’

How is Greenwear different from the workwear you had before?‘These garments were specially designed for horticulture, making them perfectly suited to the situation at Dümmen Orange. The colour scheme has been tailored to our house style and the fabric has a special weave to ensure optimal breathability. Our employees really appreciate this added comfort, because high temperatures are quite common in our greenhouses. On top of that, the clothes are sturdy and they do not shrink during our intensive washing and drying processes, increasing their lifespan.’

How did you decide whether to outsource the laundry process or to do it yourself?‘Because we abide by the highest possible hygiene standards, it is important that both our workwear and the laundry process are of excellent quality.’

How have you experienced outsourcing your laundry process, have you encountered any bottlenecks?‘Everything has gone off without a hitch. The workwear is picked up on the agreed days and returned perfectly clean and folded. For us, it’s ultimate convenience.’

What advice would you give to your colleagues?‘Greenwear is reliable, will immediately meet all your needs & wishes and quickly shifts into gear. Our end users are very satisfiedwith the Greenwear’sproducts and with Greenwear as a company.’
