“Let their guilt kill them!”

I strongly believe capital punishment, such as, lethal injection or hanged by rope, shouldn’t be

use in United States! I believe to witness the death of a criminal is crueler that the actual crime

they might have committed. “Twenty minutes later the prison doctor at last said, “I pronounce

this man dead.” Can you imagine that? Seeing a body jumping like a fish out of water, gasping

for air! The criminals don’t care if they get killed by state because if you think about it, by killing

them, they are being set free! Set free of their conscience bugging them. Setting them free of one

day feeling guilt that will destroy them. Setting them free of not spending their life’s behind

brick walls but mainly, setting them free of the fears they may face in prison!

Thirty-four states in the United States use death penalty for certain crimes. Family members of

the criminals suffer in agony while awaiting trial for execution of their “child”.

“We were expecting closure but unfortunately we were living all the thoughts, the trial,

the evidence. Everything we been trough since the start; the nightmare continues.” (In Cold

Blood)

The prison, Kansas State Penitentiary, has gun-guarded walls—twelve acres of cement

streets, cell blocks, and workshops. The south sections of the prison, little building shaped like

coffin. There’s the lower floors –The Hole- were difficult prisoners are put in ,then vanished,

God knows how. The upper story is reached by climbing. At the top is the death row.

“As the noose was fitted… the trap door opened, Hickok was hung, for all to see a full

twenty minutes, before the prison doctor at last said, “I now pronounce this man dead.” Picture a

man hanging from his neck suffocating and struggling for “air”.(In cold Blood) It’s like when

you to the beach and you go to the deep. There’s a big wave that pulls you down and you

running out of breath. You trying to reach the top of the sea and it seem far from close and you

start panicking, which makes you weak of using all the energy you had. At last you get to breath;

prisoners meet their death! What good does it do , besides decreasing population in jails, killing

somebody who killed a person? By doing that some people might get the perspective of, “eye for

an eye.” That’s when crime increases! In perspective, if YOU shot somebody should you be shot

too?

What a better way to punish this “heartless monsters” by letting their guilt take the best

out of them. I can a sure you that most criminals don’t care if they get killed because they are

getting away with it. It, meaning the crime they committed. “Perry destroyed the card… it

reminded him that he was still what he had tried not to be- alive.”

“Warden asked condemned man whether he had any last statement. Hickok nodded, “I

hold no hard feeling. You people are sending me to a better world than this ever was.”(In Cold

Blood) They have no remorse no pity. They don’t touch their heart, because they don’t have

one! So instead of making “justice” by killing them you are letting them free. Of course the

families of the victim are going with the criminal being killed, but what they don’t want to

realize is that, that’s not bringing their child back. What type of justice is that? For me better

justice is to rod in jail! Religiously they go to hell, but what if they just turn into dust. I mean we

were dust and God made man and woman. So from dust we turn dust!

As in for the families of the criminal, they have enough sufferment knowing that what

they created and might have raised with love killed another human being. Now besides living

with that, they have to go through trials to decided which date will they say their last goodbyes to

their child. I surmise they might prefer a thousand times for their child to die by natural cause or

by an accident rather than by committing a crime.

I recently lost somebody whom I love very much. The person who “accidentally” ran him

over didn’t say nothing but I could see in his face he was terribly sorry. My aunt is trying to take

the case to court, but what good will it do if he was to get sentence to death row or life in prison?

Which I believe we are far from close to getting that, but they have faith it will happen. When

the accident happened, I was angry, mad at what the guy did. I was hurting badly and I just

wanted him to be dead because my cousin didn’t deserve being taken from us so soon. A friend

of mine made me understand that nothing we do or say is going to bring Brian back, it’s just

going to make us feel worster. She finally said, “The guy who ran him over has in his conscience

that for speeding and not looking at the road, he took an innocent young child from his family.”

That’s when I understood that, that’s the greatest punishment ever, not that I wish for somebody

to go through that. When you do something bad and you know you shouldn’t had done it, doesn’t

your conscience bug you. It tells you, you shouldn’t have done it, blah, blah, blah, right?

The death penalty should not continue to be used, because “murders” shouldn’t have the

opportunity to get away with the crime that easily. By killing them you are doing them a favor by

not dealing with guilt. Therefore, I strongly believe death sentence should not be in use no more!
