What is Carer Gateway? It’s a new Australian Government funded service providing practical information and support to help people who look after someone.

Am I a carer?A carer is anyone who looks after a family member or friend who is an older person, unwell, has difficulties moving around or has a disability.

Carers can be family members, friends and neighbours. You might see caring for someone as a normal part of family or community life and may not think of yourself as a carer.

Some carers look after another person 24 hours a day, and help with daily living, while other carers look after people for a few hours to help with everyday things.

Contact Carer GatewayFor free assistance and a private chat, call 1800 422 737, Monday to Friday, 8am-6pm or visit www.carergateway.gov.au

If you have a speech or hearing impairment, you can also contact Carer Gateway via the National Relay Service at www.relayservice.gov.au
