Meet outside the entrance of ARC Cancer support Eccles Street (opposite the Mater Hospital).

Blessington Street Basin contains a small lake with an island with a great variety of water birds. This lake fed with water from Lough Owel via a pipe along the Royal Canal was a reservoir which was used for the nearby Jameson’s Distillery. It is now a haven of biodiversity in the centre of Dublin city.

It’s not every day you will get a chance to visit this hidden Dublin gem in the company of expert Eanna Ní Lamhna! (Mooney Goes Wild & The Six O’Clock Show.)

Meet at the small gate entrance to Christ Church Cathedral on Fishamble Street. Finish at Dublinia, Winetavern Street. Duration approx 90 minutes.

Medieval Dublin was a city crowded with churches, abbeys, convents and some holy wells. On this walk we will explore around some of these that happily still remain with us and point out the sites and stories of others long gone.

This walk will be around the outside of Farmleigh – it won’t include a visit of the house itself (although anyone can visit it separately if they wish before or after the walk).

Meet at Woodquay (front entrance) to Civic O� ces.

Even for this short forty minutes walk around Civic O� ces, the richness of Dublin’s built and cultural heritage, going back even before the Vikings, will become apparent. Taking the Civic O� ces as the central core this walk will take in Wood Quay, Winetavern Street, Cook Street, Cornmarket, High Street and Fishamble Street. Hopefully you will encounter several memorable surprises with Pat Liddy.

Portobello Walking Trail Sunday 7th October 2018 at 2.30pm

Meeting Point at Plaza area at Portobello Harbour, D8.Finishing Point at St. Kevin’s Park, Camden Row, D8.

Join Pat Liddy as we launch the Portobello Walking Trail Map & Guide which has been produced by Dublin City Council and Portobello Residents Group. This tour will take you through “Little Jerusalem” and past the homes of many famous writers, artists and politicians before � nishing at an ancient graveyard.

Meet at Palace Street (opposite the Olympia Theatre).

Now celebrated all over the world, Halloween owes many of its ghoulish traditions and creepy stories to Irish beginnings. Learn the many di� erent sides of Halloween and how the festivities evolved and travelled to every corner of the world today. Even Bram Stoker’s Dracula was in� uenced by the stories of the Irish folkloric undead.
