Let’s help them get the most
possible.
Jan and Stan will be trick-or-treating on
Halloween night at eight houses on Shady Lane.
They live in a very friendly neighborhood, and all the neighbors want to be sure
they don’t miss the trick-or-treaters.
The neighbors have given different bits of information to Jan and Stan to help them plan
their route.
The neighbors are all very generous and talkative, so Jan they need to allow 10 minutes
for each stop.
You and your partner’s job will be to help Jan and Stan find the best path to get the
most candy.
This will be done by creating a trick-or-treat
map.
To create the map you will need to write the following for Jan and
Stan:The name of the person who lives in each house.
The time they are to visit each house.
The order they are to visit each house. (#1 through #8, with #1 being the first house and #8 the being the last)
Mr. Green at 107 Shady Lane has to leave for the evening
at 5:30 P.M.
Mr. Black at 102 Shady Lane won’t be home until 6:00 P.M.
Mrs. Smith wants to be the first to hand out treats when the
trick-or-treating begins at 5:00 P.M. She lives two houses west of
Mrs. Jones.
Ms. Rose, who lives at 103 Shady Lane,
wants to be visited after Ms. Daisy before Mr. Brown.
They have been told to go straight to Mr. White’s house at
101 Shady after visiting 104 Shady Lane.
When they are finished at Mr. Green’s, they are to go
next door to Ms. Daisy’s house.
Mrs. Jones, who lives across the street from Mr. Green, wants to be visited right after Mr. Brown,
who lives at 106 Shady Lane.
