It will reflect your personality outside the work: it will show how active you are ,innovative and willing to learn. If you are a fresh graduate from high school or a college and even if you just got your master degree / or  you never have worked in your life ( professional work I mean, I believe non of us that lazy !!), then, it is the time for you to start building your resume.

And, please don't under estimate this project, in fact, it is a continuous project that you should always sustain during the majority of your career life.

It is even not only for fresh graduates, it is very useful too for mature professional with experience in their hands.

In short, everybody should have a well establish resume which will be a supporting tool for them to search for better opportunity for the fist time ever, inside their current organization or outside it.

Building an excellent resume is very systematic process especially if you get help from professionals and expert in the fields.

Please twit me @fahadjabri for quick advice.

Lets get into the subject.

Hobbies is very small part of any professional resume especially if you compare to rest of sections in that document.

However, it is very important sections due to:

1. It will reflect your personality outside the work: it will show how active you are ,innovative and willing to learn. For example, if you got the hobby of photography, which is very common those days ( Golden days for Camera manufacturers), it will show how

creative you are. It is the same with drawing hobby too.2. It shows your leadership attributes and skills : especially if you have hobbies related to sports. so, get fit soon !!3. It may link you directly to the job been apply to : you could have the hobby of writing and you got your own blog & you are

actually applying for a writing related job.A moment here, should the voluntary work consider a hobby or not? well, I see it debatable and I am on the side that it should be not considered as a hobby.

I promise I will cover that in another pulse soon.

Now, you know how important is the hobby section in the resume for you when you seek for new opportunity, so the next step will be how you will include it in the CV.

There is no right or wrong on how to present this particular section in the resume, however, there are basic rules that you should always follow:

Write down the real one only: the worse thing you can do is to mention a habit that doesn't exist. For example, don't get too existed and indicate that you are in love with reading books, and when you will be asked by the interviewer about the last book you have read , you answer will be "  Huh" . Then, you are gone !!.

List out the recent ones: I recommend not to mention a hobby that you quit decades ago. It smell fishy. Try to include the relevant hobbies to job as much as possible: not every employer will have interest to know more your

hobby of traditional dance, unless you will get a similar job in the royal court. Therefore, always aim for the relevant one or the most common.

Be very simple in writing them: here another test for you on how you reflect your personality in writing out your hobbies. Bullet points are fine and more than enough. You can drop few extra words if you feel that will be an eye catcher for the recruiters, but be smart in that move.

If you resume is getting long: I always recommend no more than two pages CV, so, cut it very short even with one line and no more than 10 words for the hobbies' section in that situation.More tips for you, here are the key words that you should pop-up in the hobbies 'section in your resume if prevalent:

Support & facilitateHelp & ProvideSupervise, train, and evaluate

At the end of the day, the hobbies that not the ones which will get you the job, however, they will make you stand out of the crowd.

Especially for fresh graduates and for those who are seeking a job for the first time (House wife), hobbies will gibe insights to the recruiters about your personality and potentials. And, with other good interview skills, hobbies with no surprise can get you the job somehow.
