Page 1: Letter from an english teacher

Dear Parents,

Hello, my name is Miss Janice Wong, and I will be year 6B form tutor for the 2015-2016 school year. Your

child and I will be spending a lot of time together over the next several months, so I would like to take this

opportunity to tell you a bit more about myself. I was born in Hong Kong but I went to high school in the

United States and graduated from Michigan State University, Michigan, United States with a double degree in

Psychology and Biochemistry. I have also completed my master degree in Science and a postgraduate degree in

education from the University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong respectively. My

teaching career has allowed me to work with several different grade levels of students. I have taught in both

elementary and secondary school before in Hong Kong, and I have experiences working with non-Chinese

students. This is my first year at CKY, but my forth year teaching, and I am very excited to be teaching our year

6 to 8 Math program this year! I enjoy spending time reading and exercising. I have played Ping Pong since I

was 8 and was part of the school team until I graduated from University. I was also a rower in University for 3

years. I love travelling and learning different cultures; I appreciate the diversity around the world.

It is my belief that communication between the parents and the teacher is critical to the success of the students

in my classroom. The student diary should come to school each day, and return home each day. If you need to

let me know about any changes in transportation, concerns, or questions that you might have, you can write it in

the student diary, which hopefully will also serve as a useful tool in keeping the lines of communication open.

Finally, I would like you to know that my door is always open! If you would like to talk to me concerning your

child, please feel free to schedule a time to come in and meet with me in school, email me or call me at the

school number. My email is [email protected]. I will try to get back to you either on the same day or the day

after it is received. Again, I want to make sure that the lines of communication stay open, and please use one of

the means listed above to get in touch with me.

Yours faithfully,

Janice WONG
