In 2001 I co-organised, with a group of colleagues from the “Ovid- ius” University, the International Conference Discrete Mathematics and Theoretical Computer Science, DMTCS01, Constant ¸a. Dr. Za- harescu presented at DMTCS2001 the paper “A High-Level Pro- gramming Language for Image Processing Using Mathematical Mor- phology”, https://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/research/groups/CDMTCS/ conferences/dmtcs01/acceptpapers.html. This paper studies the fun- damental mathematical morphology operators for binary and gray-level images—erosion, dilation, opening and closing, and their implementation in a high-level, object-oriented programming language. The paper was well appreciated by the referees and at the conference presentation. Since then, Dr. Zaharescu has published 25 scientific papers in journals and conferences cited in 45 papers according to scholar.google.com.
