Tony,
I do not recall the source of the 22,000 gpm (I believe that it's a name plate value) and can, if you need it, trackthat down again. I do know that the 1984 Siting was completed 4 years before Unit 1 came online and maycontain info that changed prior to start-up. Let me know how important this is and I'll run it to ground.

Matt,
The statement below comes from the VEGP 1984 siting study report. I thought the each of the four pumpsare rated at 22,000 gpm. The statement below seems to contradict that. Do you know the facts on maxpossible pumping rate?
"maximum plant withdrawal rate (72,000 gpm)minimum river water level of 78.4 ft msl"

This summary provides information from the 1 3th of 24 planned sampling impingement events atthe Plant Vogtle make-up water intake structure. This sampling event was conducted by TonyDodd and Bob Brinkman of GPC's Environmental Field Services Group during 10-11 September2008.
Operation
Two make-up water pumps were operating during the sampling event. All four vertical travelingscreens were operational during the sampling event.
Impingement Sampling
Impingement sampling was conducted at the Plant Vogtle intake structure screen wash outfall pit-between 2100 hrs on 10 September and 2030 hrs on 11 September 2008. The traveling screenswere rotated and purged of any prior impinged debris via the screen wash system before settingthe insert net for collection. Two live crayfish averaging about 50 mm long each and weighing atotal of about 3.5 grams were collected from the 12-hr daytime sample. One recently deceasedblackbanded darter (Percina nigrofasciata) at 57 mm long weighing 1.4 grams was collectedduring the 12-hr nighttime sample. To date, a total of 68 organisms representing 18 species in 10taxonomic families comprising a total biomass of 592.7 grams have been collected in theimpingement sampling program.
Other Observations
Surface water temperature during the 24-hr event averaged 27.5°C. Flow in the Savannah Riverincreased from approximately 4,230 to 4,300 cfs (USGS Waynesboro Gage No. 021973269).Please contact me if you have any questions.

This summary provides information from the 14'h of 24 planned sampling impingement events atthe Plant Vogtle make-up water intake structure. This sampling event was conducted by TonyDodd and Joey Slaughter of GPC's Environmental Field Services Group during 24-25 September2008.
Operation
Two make-up water pumps were operating during the sampling event. All four vertical travelingscreens were operational during the sampling event.
Impingement Sampling
Impingement sampling was conducted at the Plant Vogtle intake structure screen wash outfall pitbetween 2030 hrs on 24 September and 2030 hrs on 25 September 2008. The traveling screenswere rotated and purged of any prior impinged debris via the screen wash system before settingthe insert net for collection. No fish or shellfish were encountered in samples collected during the24-hr sampling event. To date, a total of 68 organisms representing 18 species in 10 taxonomicfamilies comprising a total biomass of 592.7 grams have been collected in the impingementsampling program.
Other Observations
Surface water temperature during the 24-hr event averaged 24°C. Flow in the Savannah Riverdeclined slightly from approximately 3,830 to 3,790 cfs (USGS Waynesboro Gage No.021973269).

This summary provides information from the 15th of 24 planned sampling impingement events atthe Plant Vogtle make-up water intake structure. This sampling event was conducted by TonyDodd and Tom Broadwell of GPC's Environmental Field Services Group during 7-8 October2008.
Operation
Two make-up water pumps were operating during the sampling event. All four vertical travelingscreens were operational during the sampling event. One nuclear unit is currently undergoing aroutine maintenance outage at this time.
Impingement Sampling
Impingement sampling was conducted at the Plant Vogtle intake structure screen wash outfall pitbetween 2035 hrs 2035 hrs during 7-8 October 2008. The traveling screens were rotated andpurged of any prior impinged debris via the screen wash system .before setting the insert net forcollection. Only one fish (hogchoker) measuring 32 mm in total length and weighing about 0.5grams was collected during the night sample. To date, a total of 69 organisms representing 18species in 10 taxonomic families comprising a total biomass of 593.2 grams have been collectedin the impingement sampling program.
Other Observations
Surface water temperature during the 24-hr event averaged 22.5°C. Flow in the Savannah Riveraveraged 3,900 cfs during the sampling event (USGS Waynesboro Gage No. 021973269).
