Pomeroy (Iowa)

November 23, 1930

Dear Dorothy,

I was surprised of course at your news and you were evidently so happy I got a thrill out of it and felt

happy too.

I remember meeting his parent s and was very favorably impressed with their appearance. I think they

had just finished corn planting and intended taking a trip through Ill(nois) and Ia (Iowa). I did not meet

Ralph to know him but from what you say about him I think he will suit me perfectly so you both have

my permission and congratulations and hope you may realize all the happiness you are anticipating.

I have much faith in your making good as a farmer’s wife and from the start he has got, I think he will be

a successful farmer. Marjorie I hear will be married soon after her school closes. He is a young famer

too and I guess a nice boy. He will work his father’s farm who will move into town.

Leslie and Edna will move on her father’s farm. He has fixed it up in fine shape. Put in electric lights so it

is modern in every way.

Ed’s corn went from 45 to 60 bushels per acre, much better than they expected. His small grain was

good too.

Am anxious to know how your corn turned out also if you stay on that farm another year. Marie said at

the picnic you would not but I have doubted her knowing.

Am tired and will close.

Love to all,

W W Lewis
