Congratulations to:

Mrs Hambley, Mrs Shankar, students and parents for their involvement in our Diwali Celebration. The students and parents ran classroom sessions explaining the Diwali Celebration. We will be looking at celebrations each year from each of our main cultures. The afternoon finished with a Diwali Celebration walk where all classes made a display to share. Thank you to the visitors who attended. Students completed designs which will be converted into a Welcome mural in the K-2 COLA. Thanks to: Anisha, Svara, Riya, Kinjal, Monali, Nishka, Vasni and Reva.

The P&C for a fun and fantastic Retro Disco. The students thoroughly enjoyed their time while the P&C raised $1 641!

Thank you to:

All our volunteers this year. It was lovely to catch up with the Thank you Morning Tea today. We are so lucky to have so many people who are dedicated to LPS. People are very generous with their time and want to make a difference for students which is noticed and appreciated every day. Thank you to Mrs Hambley and the events Committee for co-ordinating the invitations, gifts and refreshments.

Sentral parent portal I thank everyone who has informed us about the technical issues relating to the Sentral parent portal application. We have worked closely with Sentral to rectify these problems. We are assured that a number of technical updates have been applied and the portal should be working again. Make sure you update your application, if you haven’t done so already. It may take a few minutes to initially load after completing the updates. Please let our administrative staff know, if you are still continuing to experience difficulty with the application. We will ensure that this information is passed on to Sentral. Feedback and complaints video for the school community At the end of last week and over the weekend, you may have heard that the Department of Education (DoE) has released a video about how school communities can provide feedback and complaints to schools. The video was developed with a number of key stakeholders including, the P&C Association and NSW Ombudsman office. The video was developed because the DoE has recognised that student achievement is closely related to the quality of the relationship between families and schools. The DoE also acknowledges that there are times when parents and carers want to raise an issue with the school and they honestly do not know where to start or how to do this. This video is a supportive guide as to how parents and carers can raise potential concerns at an early stage. It is important that we all work together so issues can be resolved early and efficiently. The video can be found at: https://education.nsw.gov.au/news/announcements/family-feedback-about-schools-always-welcome . It is also available with subtitles and voice over that can be translated. If you do have some concerns, in regards to your child, please raise them early with your child’s teacher. A final reminder about students not returning or returning late in 2019 We are close to finalising numbers for 2019 and classes and need to know which students are not returning next year. We also need to know who is returning, but will be on an extended leave and will be late to return to school. If your family is returning late next year, please contact the office to get an extended leave form to fill in. If your child or family is moving schools in 2019, please let your child’s class teacher know in writing, along with the school he or she will be going to or contact the school office. Informing the school will ease our 2019 transition.

1/2J

This term 1/2 J have been very busy learning about Diwali, and Picollage. We learnt about the importance and customs during the Diwali Festival of Lights and we had fun participating in Diwali activities during our Diwali Day. We decorated our room and we are very proud of our Diwali art and light display. We had fun dressing up and taking photos of ourselves. Then we ‘air dropped’ the photos to Mrs Wilson, so that we could Pic-collage them and print them off for our ‘ special projects’. During dancing we learnt some great line dances and we performed ‘Boot Scootin Baby’ for our assembly item. Wow, what a busy term we have had. Mrs Wilson and 1/2J would like to wish everyone a wonderful fun filled and relaxing holiday!

P & C News

Thank you to all our parent helpers and the community for volunteering and donating cakes and baked treats to our disco cake stall. They were delicious and contributed to a very successful end of year event. We had 220 kids join us for an afternoon of dancing in lots of rainbow colours! Together we have raised a further $1600 towards our 'Cool the school' endeavours.

In 2019 the prices of our uniform shop items will be increased by approximately $2 per item. This is to cover the production costs and margins of Gosford tailoring. We will update you in the last newsletter of the year the new uniform shop opening times and their new price list.
