The Gold Coast has the largest concentration of theme parks in the world and this, along with the whale watching cruises on offer, make it an exciting place to visit.

Resource J: Commonwealth Games Viewpoints (Perspectives)

We have been told there will be ashortage of accommodation for

technical officials and media personnel. We will probably head to Brisbane for the

11 days of the games and rent ourproperty out. We live in Broadbeach and are hoping to get good money for the use

of this and our other properties.

My house is close to one of the venues that will be used for the Games. I am very worried about noise and lier in

my street already. The Games go on for 11 days, so I hope there will be extra

security in my street. There is enough crime on the Gold Coast already.

Doris(Elderly pensioner)

I have just got a job as a G:linkrail driver. It will be good to get extra

hours on the light rail while the Games are on, but the traffic will be hectic and

the days long. Maybe the driverswill get a pay rise!

Yvonne(Talented swimmer)

I am so excited about the Games coming to the Gold Coast! I have already been to the World Junior

Champs and will continue to train hard for the next four years.

I am hoping to qualify for the Australian Swim team.

I work for a computer softwarecompany. We have been developing a prey

good software package that will help in testing for banned substances amongst the

competitors. We will take it alongto the Games Corporation and see what

they think. I might volunteer to help at one of the venues as well, as it could be fun. I will try to get my mates involved as well.
