Level 3 advanced apprenticeship for Assistant accountants

Apprentices are required to have:

• Level 2 in Maths• Level 2 in English.

These are equivalent to GCSE at grade A* to C, ideally as part of five GCSE A* to C grades or other comparable qualifications. Apprentices without English or Maths at level 2 must achieve this prior to completing the Apprenticeship.

What will the Apprenticeship include?

The learner will gain the following knowledge, skills and behaviours:

Skills • Analysis• Communication• Producing quality and accurate information• Using systems and processes• Problem solving.

Behaviours

• Embracing change• Adding value • Ethics and integrity • Personal accountability • Productivity • Team working and collaboration.

They will also gain a range of additional skills and knowledge carefully selected to suit their role in conjunction with their Assessor.

Qualification

AAT Advanced Level 3 Diploma in Accounting

How will the apprentice be assessed?

The end point assessment will test the entire standard and will be undertaken as follows:

• A synoptic test – covering the knowledge and skills gained throughout the on-programme stage

• A portfolio – evidencing competence in knowledge, skills and behaviours in the standard, gathered through both practical experience in the workplace and a reflective statement.

The final assessment and grading will be undertaken by an independent Assessor. There are three outcomes from the end point assessment, which are fail, pass or distinction.

How we will support learners

Learners are supported throughout their programme by a dedicated Assessor. Visits will take place regularly to provide skills training; assess knowledge, skills and behaviours; offer guidance; and provide a source of sector-specific knowledge. Assessors will facilitate learning and set challenging targets throughout the journey. Learners will also benefit from a Learner Support Advisor, who will provide remote support and guidance through regular phone calls, texts and emails to ensure learning remains on track between Assessor visits.
