Ordering Information

The robust dry-seal design of the Redtail Hawk gauging system

utilizes two reels of cable separated by a pressure seal and fixed

to a common axle. One reel, on the sealed side of the gauge

head, is exposed to the tank process and attaches to the float.

The other reel attaches to the external gauge board indicator and

moves in unison with the tank-exposed reel. The integral sloped

channel to the tank connection allows condensation to drain

back into the tank, eliminating freezing risk.

Cast aluminum and stainless steel construction makes this

gauge head ideal for any process conditions, including high tem-

perature, corrosive and sour gas environments. Available with

optional stainless steel float.

The Redtail Hawk gauge head can transmit level electronically

by attaching a Goshawk Transmitter. Performed before or after

the installation of the gauge head on the tank, the addition of a

Goshawk Transmitter is simple with stock parts available from

Hawkeye Industries Inc. The addition of a Goshawk transmitter

indicates allows tank level measurement via both electronic sig-

nal from the transmitter and the mechanical gauge board dis-

play.

Like the Redtail Hawk Gauge Head, The Roadside Hawk can be

fitted with a Goshawk Transmitter, to indicate level electronically.

This modification can be done before, or after installation with

ease. Two versions of the Roadside are available, both of which

are suitable for above or under ground use. The standard model,

the Roadside S, has reels for both the float and indicator lines,

whereas the Roadside R, replaces the indicator reel with a

spring, eliminating the requirement for mechanical level indica-

tion.

Cast aluminum and stainless steel construction allow this unit to

operate in most process conditions including high temperature,

corrosive, sour gas. Due to the compact design, the Roadside

Hawk can operate in pressures up to 1 bar.

The Roadside Hawk Gauge Head utilizes the same robust dry-

seal technology as the Redtail Hawk Gauge System, eliminating

downtime and maintenance associated with a leaking gauge

head. The same integral sloped tank connection channel as

found in the Redtail Hawk Gauge Head allows condensation to

drain back into the tank, eliminating freezing risk. Two different

Roadside Hawk Gauge Head system models are available, Stan-

dard (S) for use with a standard mechanical indicator, or Re-

tractable (R), which does not require an external gauge board

indicator for operation, instead using a Goshawk Transmitter and

a precision balanced spring return mechanism, suitable for un-

derground tanks.

The close tolerances between the pulley and the housing pre-

vent the cable from “jumping” off, a problem which has plagued

operators in the past. It is compact, simple to install and easy to

move from tank to tank.

Cast aluminum pulley and housing along with the stainless steel

shaft makes this a rugged and reliable gauge.

The Sparrow Hawk also comes with a 1-1/2 NPT connection,

Model 750 SystemBased around the Model 750 Gauge head, this system is available in a number of different con-figuarions to suit your application. Available in open or sealed versions, with a number of differentindicator and float options, the Model 750 system is a versatile economical indication system.

Design

Model 750 Gauge Head

Flexibility

Construction

The Model 750 Series Gauge Head features a two-pulley design

with an adjustable pulley position to suit your tank configuration.

Close tolerance between the pulleys and housing eliminate cable

“jumping,” and the top cover and vent holes work to prevent the

gauge head from icing.

The “LS” version adds a pressurized grease cartridge, making it

into a sealed, zero-emission gauge head. This patented design

maintains a tight cable seal longer than any comparable liquid

seal competitor, and can be easily replenished on site using a

standard grease gun.

Cast aluminum alloy provide a durable and corrosion resistant

cover for the Model 750 Series Gauge Head. The PVC pulleys

are supported by stainless steel clevis-pin axels. The sealing car-

tridge in the “LS” model is made from PVC, Viton and zinc-plated

steel components, and is filled with synthetic grease.

Clevis pins allow quick removal of

the pulleys for simple and efficient

cable assembly, and gauge board mount-

ing flexibility. An optional extension is avail-

able, extending the gauge head reach by two

inches.

Standard Indicator & Guide Kit

Gauge Board, Decals & Clips

Wraparound Indicator

The precision balanced wrap-around style indicator runs along

our standard gauge board, eliminating the need for other exter-

nal guide cables.

The Wrap-around indicator is a high-polish aluminum tread plate

with carbon steel counterweights riveted to the backside.

The wrap around indicator snaps over the gauge board, and can

be installed on any Model 750 Series Indication system.

The Hawkeye Standard Indicator & Guide kit is a premium indi-

cation solution, allowing trouble-free operating in all weather

conditions. The indicator has generous guide holes that run

along guide cables offset from the gauge board so not only is it

resistant to jamming and icing up, but has no contact with the

gauge board decals ensuring long life.

The standard indicator is a zinc-plated steel, with stainless steel

trim. The standard indicator is compatible with all Hawkeye gaug-

ing systems cable and connections.

Anodized aluminum gauge boards for tanks 1 to 32+ ft come

complete with UV-Resistant graduated volume or height decals ,

customized to application, already applied. Volumetric decals are

graduated in cubic metres (m3) and come in blue; linear height

decals are graduated in metres (m) and come in red. We can

also supply precut ready-to-apply decals to retrofit an existing

gauge board.

Standard weld-on gauge board mounting clips (above left) are

available, as well as flexible magnetic clips(above right) when

welding is not an option. Clips are recommended every 60 in.

The standard 6” Diameter x 24” long polyethylene float is rec-

ognized as the best float available for any level gauge system. It

boasts integrated float guides and cable. PE floats are molded

from linear low-densiity PE material, and suitable for use up to

80°C. The resilient float is designed to work in harmony with

the Hawkeye Indicator, but can also replace third-party floats.

Hawkeye offers 6” diameter stainless steel floats to replace the

standard polyethylene float when conditions dictate. All stain-

less floats are 316L, and come with an integrated pigtail cable

connection system and float guides. Optionally, the stainless

steel float can be electrically bonded to the float cable.

The Hawkeye 4” Diameter guideless polyethylene float is an eco-

nomical choice when guides are not available or required. The

4” Diameter allows installation through a 4 NPT nozzle without

any other tank access required. The 4” guideless polyethylene

float requires the use of the Hawkeye Wrap-around indicator.

The standard indicator is compatible with all hi-lo level switches

currently available. Consult the level switch brochure for more in-

formation.

Adapter BushingsWhen installing a 4” Guideless float through a 4 NPT nozzle, the

adapter bushing allows mounting the 1-1/2 NPT Model 750 on

the same port for easy one-nozzle installation.

Cable AccessoriesWe offer a selection of Crosby-style cable clamps, as well as

crimp rings for all the cable products we supply.

Float guides cables run inside the tank and provide guiding for

the float, preventing wandering or twisting. Wherever possible, it

is recommended that all 6” floats be run with float guides The

float guide kit includes two cable locks, cable, and strap forks to

connect to eyes welded on the tank floor. For retrofit or applica-

tions where welding clips to the tank floor, we provide two styles

of float guide anchors: coated steel (pictured) and a weighted 6”

PE float.

Cam Lock fittings are carried in sizes suitable for all Hawkeye

gauge heads. Using a Cam Lock connection on your gauge head

allows easy head installation, eliminating need to align the gauge

head, or spin it on -- useful in tight installations where there is no

room to turn the gauge head to engage threads. Cam Locks also

allow tool-less gauge head removal and reinstallation when mov-

ing or transporting a tank.

CamLock connections can be mixed and matched to suit the sit-

uation. However, Hawkeye recommends connecting the female

Cam Lock to the gauge head.

Hawkeye carries and stocks a wide array of connection adapters

styles, sizes and materials to mate our gauge heads to almost

any tank connection.

Level Indication > Systems

System ComponentsA gauge head is only one part of a complete tank level indication system, so Hawkeye offers every-thing required to complete the indication system, including floats and float guides, anchors, indica-tors and gauge boards with volume / height decals made to your specification.

The standard polyethylene float boasts integrated float guides

and cable. PE floats are molded from LLDPE material, and suit-

able for use up to 80°C. The resilient float is designed to work

in harmony with the Hawkeye Indicator, but can also replace

third-party floats.

Hawkeye makes both horizontal stainless steel floats to replace

the polyethylene float when conditions dictate, but also vertical

floats for use with still wells, retractable gauge heads, or other

applications where there are close fits, or float guide kits are not

available. All stainless floats are 316L, and come with an inte-

grated pigtail cable connection system. Horizontal floats also

come with float guides.

Float guides cables run inside the tank and provide guide for the

float to run on, preventing wandering or twisting. The float guide

kit includes two cable locks, cable, and strap forks.

Anchors the float guide cables to the floor of the tank when weld-

ing clips to the floor is not appropriate.

Standard weld-on gauge board mounting clips are available for

attaching the gauge board to the tank. Additionally, magnetic

clips are available when welding to the tank is not an option.

The standard gauge board top bracket guides the indicator cable

from the gauge head to the gauge board with a low friction pul-

ley for smooth and reliable indicator operation. We also offer a

swivelling top bracket, used to compensate for gauge head and

gauge board misalignment.

We also carry an array of

Severe Service TrimThe Severe Service Trim option provides exotic alloy cable and connections for long term reliableuse of Hawkeye Level indication systems in concentrated hydrochloric acid and other high chlorideion applications.

Design

Construction

FlexibilityOrdering Information

The Severe Service Trim (SST) option uses corrosion resistant al-

loys to replace wetted stainless steel components in the Hawk-

eye Float Guide Kit, Float Cable Assembly for use with the

Sparrowhawk and Model 750 / 750LS Gauge Heads, as well as

the Redtail and Roadside sealed gauge heads.

The major non-material difference between the SST and stan-

dard trim is the Severe Service Cable Termination (SSCT). The

SSCT replaces both the threaded stud and the strap fork termi-

nations. Using a low-stress ball lock, the cable is held securly in

the barrel of the SSCT, keeping the cable free from kinking or

fraying, and eliminating the possibility of float or guide discon-

nection due to the cable breaking.

The SSCT can be used in two configurations, either as a stop for

attaching a float, or as loop for fixing float guide cables to at-

tachment points on the floor of the tank.

All wetted cable and components of the float guide kit, float

cable assembly and gauge heads are made from an exotic alloy

developed in the nuclear industry specifically for superior corro-

sion resistance in acid and chloride applications. Non-wetted

components remain the same as in their standard counterparts.

The Severe Service Trim option is available for all sizes of Float

Guide Kits as well as Float Cable Asseblies for use with the Spar-

rowhawk and Model 750 & 750LS gauge heads. Additionally, the

Redtail and Roadside Hawk Zero Emission Dry Seal gauge heads

can be outfitted with the Severe Service trim. The materials of

construction allow continuous use in HCl concentrations up to

38%.

Severe Sevice Trim options are available on the following:

GreyhawkThe Greyhawk Level Indication system provides an effective and economical way to directly gaugelevel in knock-out or other horizontal tanks.

Design

Construction

Flexibility

The Greyhawk Level Indicator brings together the proven

Cooper’s Hawk level gauge with an integrated float and stillwell

for use on knock-out or other horizontal tanks. The gauge ex-

tends upward from the top of the tank, making it visible over

berms and other obstacles. This, coupled with a high visibility

red marker and high contrast background make the Greyhawk

gauging system a simple and effective method to gauge tank vol-

ume. The float and indicator are internally secured to the gauge,

making installation as simple as inserting the float guide tube

into the tank, and screwing the plug into the tank bung.

This system features the same durable aluminum, borosilicate

and teflon construction of the Cooper’s hawk gauge system with

resilient aluminum float guide tube, a molded polyethylene float

and polyethylene indicator.

The Greyhawk comes complete with the polyethylene float, 3 NPT

bung, and can be supplied for tanks with a diameter of 18” to

96”. Stainless Steel wetted components, including the float,

are available for corrosive or high temperature applications.

Skimmers > HDPE

Model 1200The Model 1200 Floating Skimmer provides an effective non-metallic solution to skimming prod-uct from the surface of tank conents, regardless of the overall tank level.

Design

Construction

Flexibility

Ordering Information

The Model 1200 consists of a custom made HDPE pontoon with

siphon and hose assembly slung underneath. The pontoon floats

on the liquid while ensuring the siphon is fully submerged just

under the surface. To guide the skimmer, the pontoon features

two pairs of guide holes through the web for guide cables. Using

float guide cables keeps the apparatus from floating around hor-

izontally inside the tank, while still allowing full vertical travel.

The siphon inlets, set below the liquid level, draw product in to

the skimmer and direct it through a flexible hose to the tank out-

let connection. Hose outlet connections are nominally 2 NPT,

but can be fit to most any kind of pipe or flange connection.

The pontoon is and siphon are made from polyethylene; the pon-

toon from the same red LLDPE resin as our popular level indi-

cating floats, and the siphon from black HDPE. The hose is a

flexible 2.5” ID PVC tube with a hard PVC helix for rigidity and

abrasion resistance, and is connected to the siphon and outlet

connection with stainless steel hose clamps. Hose connections

and flanges are carbon steel, standard.

Because the Model 1200 is a floating skim, it follows the liquid

level, ensuring that the product it draws off is always from the

top of the liquid column. The flexible hose used on the Model

1200 not only allows unimpeded travel of the skimmer pontoon,

but provides flexibility in placement of the skimmer in relation to

the desired hose outlet tank connection. For Model 1200 skim-

mers using float guide cables, stops are available to limit the ver-

tical travel of the skimmer, eliminating interference with heaters,

or other in-tank equipment.

1.) Specify Model 1200 Skimmer

2.) Specify Required Hose Length (see Hose sizing on back page)

The following dimensions are required when determining the

length of hose required for a tank skimming application.

► Tank Height & Diameter

► Location of Skimmer within tank

► Location of outlet connection

Product is not drawn from the surface, but slightly below a re-

gion called the dead zone. The dead zone exists between the

liquid surface and the top of the siphon inlet, and it varies with

the density of the tank contents, and the weight of the hose un-

derneath. The dead zone increases with lower density liquid, and

longer hose lenghts, and decreases with denser liquids and

shorter hose lengths.

Design

Construction

Flexibility

Both the pressure and vacuum seals are situated over 9” inside

the tank, using the intrinsic heat of the product to prevent the

vent internals from freezing. Pressure release settings are eas-

ily adjustable, from 2 ozsi to 16 ozsi (18 - 32 ozsi with double

weight spring), using proprietary pressure spacers. Flutter and

leaks are eliminated via guided spring and seal pallet. The re-

movable internals allow for tank access and simplify seal main-

tenance.

Rugged stainless steel and aluminum construction make the

Marsh Hawk TRV perfect for sweet or sour gas applications.

The Marsh Hawk TRV is available with a variety of seal materials

and coatings to suit the vent to any application. Additionally, the

field-adjustable pressure relief setting makes the Marsh Hawk

TRV a flexible tank vent solution. The Marsh Hawk can replace

a thief hatch on an 8” API flange, and many mounting adapters

are available to suit other common tank connections. An op-

tional pipe-away adapter is available to pipe vapors to contain-

ment or flare.

Manual Relief Option

Operating Forces

The Manual Relief Option allows an operator to manually actu-

ate the vent, relieving pressure in the tank to allow safe removal

of the spider cage internals. Additionally, manual actuation al-

lows any accumulated condensation collected on the valve pal-

let to be drain back into the tank without having to rely on the

tank drawing vacuum.

The large mushroom button is connected to the vacuum disc via

a spring-loaded poppet. Pressing down on the button opens the

vacuum disc, allowing pressure to escape. The button and pop-

pet are supported independently of the vacuum disc, and as

such do not affect the vacuum or pressure relief performance of

the vent.

Above: Marsh Hawk TRV withManual Relief OptionInset: MRO Spider Cage

Hard Anodized OptionFor situations requiring improved corrosion resistance above the

standard Marsh Hawk, we offer a Hard Anodized Option. An-

odizing is an electrochemical process which increases the thick-

ness and durability of aluminum’s naturally occuring oxide layer.

All aluminum components of the vent, including the body and all

internals are anodized to meet MIL-A-8625F Type III Engineering

Hardcoat. The anodization slightly darkens the cast compo-

nents, and adds a slight bronze colour to the machined compo-

nents.

The anodized Marsh Hawk will exhibit improved resistance to

moderate saline, as well as acetic, boric & nitric acids. For pro-

longed exposure to concentrated brines, high-chloride ion con-

tent, or hydrochloric, sulphuric or other acids not listed here, it is

recommended the Severe Service Coated Option be used.Above: Hard Anodized Marsh Hawk TRVInset: Hard Anodized Spider Cage

Severe Service Coating OptionFor situations demanding the highest corrosion resistance com-

pared to the standard and anodized offerings, consider the

Marsh Hawk with the Severe Service Coating Option.

The body and lid of the Marsh Hawk are coated in a red epoxy

material, providing resistance to strong mineral acids, including

hydrochloric, hydrofluoric and sulphuric acids, high chloride ion

solutions, inlcude aluminum chloride, potassium chloride and

brine solutions, as well as many organic compounds common in

the oilfield.

The internals of the Marsh Hawk are coated in a proprietary

black Teflon PFA material, providing the spidercage the same su-

perb chemical resistance properties as Teflon . Above: Fusion-bond Epoxy Coated BodyInset: Teflon Coated Internals

Marsh Hawk De-icing System

Related Products

The Marsh Hawk De-icing System allows an operator to spray a

deicing or antifreeze agent* right onto the internals of the vent

from ground level.

The system consists of the specially designed nozzle, 36 ft. of

hose, swivels, check valve and a 1/4 NPT male connection for

ground level. Optionally, the system can be furnished with a

manual hand pump and quick connect hose fittings.

All Marsh Hawks manufactured since July 2010 feature a pair of

1/4 NPT ports on the body to accomodate the deicing nozzle.

Marsh Hawks manufactured prior to this date will require drilling

and tapping a 1/4 NPT port on the body, just under the resting

position of the cover.

Risers, Spools & Pipe-awaysHawkeye offers Riser, Spool and Pipe-away System adapters to complement our vapor controlproduct line.

Hatch Risers

Adapter Spools

Pipe-away System

Hatch risers are used to mount Marsh Hawk TRV units to tanks

with sloped roofs. The riser accommodates the slope angle of

the roof, allowing the hatch to sit in an upright orientation, while

keeping the internals of the vent within the heat envelope of the

tank. The risers have 8” API mounting flanges on top and bot-

tom, and a canted at the standard 12:1 roof pitch.

Adapter spools are used to mount a Marsh Hawk or TVTH to a

tank lacking the standard 8” API mounting pattern. The spool

height accommodates fastener installation, while keeping the

Marshhawk internals within the heat envelope of the tank. Com-

mon adapter spools include 8 and 12 150# ANSI, as well as the

API 18” and 22” oblong bolt patterns. Custom mounting pat-

terns can be accomodated, call us for more information.

The Pipe-away system provides means to capture emissions from

a tank while still maintaining the pressure- and vacuum -relief

characteristics of a Marsh Hawk TRV. The Pipe-away System

sports a 4” 150# ANSI flange connection to pipe vapors away, in

addition to a 8” API flange at the top that can accommodate a

TVTH. The Pipe-away ships standard with a modified Marsh

Hawk, blind 8” API flange, gaskets and tank mounting hardware.

ConstructionRisers, spools and pipe-away systems are welded carbon steel,

and coated with high temperature flat-black paint.

These mesh hats fit on the Marsh Hawk body to keep debris and

wildlife out of the deep-set hatch cavity. Made from stainless

steel woven mesh, they are manufactured to snap onto the top

of the Marsh Hawk, and require no additional installation tools.

The mesh itself has a negligible impact on the venting perform-

ance of the Marsh Hawk thief hatch.

Hawkeye provides this standard neoprene gasket that seals be-

tween the tank and the Marsh Hawk or TVTH. The standard gas-

ket conforms to the 8” API 12B/F Thief Hatch bolting pattern,

although other sizes may be available. Contact us for more in-

formation.

De-icing SystemAn optional de-icing system is available that allows direct injec-

tion of a seal-appropriate de-icing solution onto the internals of

the Marsh Hawk from ground level. The De-icing system is avail-

able as just the nozzle and hose assembly, or complete with a

hand pump and quick connections.

This bolt kit includes sixteen

The transition fitting joint uses a combination of elastomeric

seals and significant interferences to ensure a leak-free design.

The joint, designed to be stronger than the polyethylene pipe,

exceeds pullout requirements of CSA B137.4-05. ID controlled

fittings boast a smooth transition from the polyethylene inside-

diameter to the steel inside-diameter. By eliminating the tubular

insert stiffener, and instead using the steel pipe itself the insert

stiffener, the non-obstructed inside diameter makes these fit-

tings suitable for pigging.

The standard materials of construction are ASME A106 B for the

steel portion and PE47101 for the plastic portion. Hawkeye tran-

sition fittings are designed in consideration of CSA B137.4-05 &

Z662-07, ASTM D2513 & F1973, as well as API 15LE & ASME

B31.8.

ID-Controlled Transition fittings are available in standard pipe

sizes from 2 NPS [60.3 mm] to 16 NPS , and are available in

Standard Dimension Ratios (SDR’s) of 6.3, 7.3, 9, 11 and 17.

Call us for sizes larger than 16 NPS, SDR’s not listed and non-

standard materials.

Polyethylene & Pipeline > PE Fittings

Fabricated FittingsPolyethylene fittings, manufactured from raw billet materials, or injection molded come in a widerange of styles and sizes suitable for new or existing gas pipeline systems.

Design Construction

Ball Valves

Flexibility

Technical References

All polyethylene fittings manufactured and distributed by Hawk-

eye Industries Inc are fully pressure rated. Because mitred fu-

sions reduce the pressure rating of a fitting (‘de-rate’), Hawkeye

increases the wall thickness to maintain the pressure rating of

the fitting. The wall thickness can be increased by either using

a larger OD of pipe with a low SDR and maintain the design ID (ID

Control) or use the same size pipe and decrease the SDR in the

region of the fusion (Non-ID Control). Injection molded fittings,

as they do not have mitred fusions, maintain the pressure rating

without an increase in wall thickness.

Fabircated and molded fittings are offered in PE 100 / PE4710

standard, with PE3408 available as an option. For fabricated fit-

tings, such as y-laterals, tees and multi-segment elbows, Hawk-

eye uses the mitred fusion joint method, as opposed to sidewall

fusion, for strong, constsitent and structurally sound construc-

tion.

Hawkeye carries polyethylene ball valves in 2, 3 and 4 NPS SDR

11 sizes. Call us for availability of other sizes.

Fabricated fittings, including y-laterals, tees, elbows, flange

adapters are available in sizes from 2 NPS to 16 NPS and in DRs

5, 6.3, 7.3, 9, 10, 11, 13.5, 17 and 21, depending on size.

Molded fittings are available from 2 NPS to 12 NPS, in DRs 7, 9,

11, 13.5, 17. Fabricated y-laterals and tees can have different

sized branches than mains, call us for more information.

Polyethylene & Pipeline > Casing

RACI Casing SpacersInnovative no-fastener RACI spacers isolate carrier pipes from casing pipe in a simple and cost-ef-fective manner. The unique RACI design provides projections around the entire circumference ofthe carrier pipe, and has no fasteners to scratch or mar the casing during installation.

Design

Construction

Flexibility

Sizing Information

RACI spacers attach rigidly to carrier pipe to mechanically and

electrically isolate it from the casing pipe, eliminating the possi-

bility of galvanic corrosion and coating abrasion due to dynamic

loading. Additionally, RACI spacers keep bell and spigot Joints

from sliding or resting on the casing, reducing wear on the car-

rier pipe. The RACI spacer itself is chemically resistant, and can

withstand significant thermal and mechanical stresses during

installation.

RACI spacers are injection molded high-density polyethylene, and

join via an integral locking system that requires no metal bolts or

fasteners. The injection molded HDPE spacer has high impact

strength, and provides little friction during casing installation.

RACI Spacer elements are available with varying support heights,

allowing the spacer to clear any bells, flanges or coupling on the

carrier pipe. The integral joining system is simple to operate in

the field and allows the RACI system to match a wide range of

carrier pipe diameters, including coated pipes. RACI spacers can

be installed on concrete, ductile iron, plastic and steel pipe.

The selection of spacer depends on the following information:

1.) Exact carrier pipe OD

2.) Exact bell, flange or coupling OD

3.) Exact casing pipe ID

4.) Clearance desired between casing and carrier pipe.

5.) Length of application, with linear weight of filled carrier pipe.

Consult the element charts in the RACI brochure for sizing and

spacing information. We also offer a sizing calculator on our

website, and we are always willing to help size an application.

Call for more information.

Tools & Tool RentalTo facilitate assembly of RACI spacer rings, Hawkeye offers two

types of hand tools. The vice tool has interchangeable jaws for

assembling A&B, F&G and S&T spacer rings. The ratcheting tool

comes in sizes for assemblying E&H and M&N sized spacer

rings.

Tools are available to rent as well. Call for more information.

TapeTo secure the casing spacer ring to the carrier pipe, it is recom-

mended that half the circumference of the carrier be covered in

a mastic or adhesive tape. Hawkeye offers tape that is strong,

easy to apply and non-damaging to both carrier and spacers.

INNERLYNX penetration seals provide pressure resistance to 20

psi. Additionally, the seals absorb vibrations, shocks and atten-

uate sound transfer. As a result of their non-conductive nature,

end seals electrically insulate the carrier pipe from the pene-

trated structure or casing. No specialty tools are required for in-

stallation.

INNERLYNX are made from synthetic rubber with heavy-duty, UV

and ozone resistant plastic pressure plates. Steel plates are also

available.

Sixteen different sizes from 0.5 in. to 100 in. are available, and

custom sizes can be special-ordered. INNERLYNX seals are suit-

able for most applications, including pipelines, waste treatment

plants, compressor stations, power plants and offshore produc-

tion platforms.

Sizing Information

Hawkeye end seals are a versatile and cost effective method of

sealing casing ends. The end seals are designed to create a flex-

ible seal over the casing pipe and may be installed even after

the carrier is installed.

End seals are made from 1/8 inch thick neoprene rubber for op-

timal chemical resistance and resilience. The seam is sealed by

two strips of butyl tape for ease of installation from an instant

bond and flexibility along the seam due to its non-hardening na-

ture. The seal is secured to the pipes by stainless steel banding

with fully stainless steel worm gear clamps for extended life and

ease of installation as only a screw driver is required.

The flexibility of the seal not only allows the seal to fit over non-

concentric pipes but will also prevent failure when the pipes shift

or move naturally. The wrap around style of the end seal also al-

lows for quick and easy installation during, or after, the installa-

tion of carrier pipe

Any combination of pipe sizes can be accommodated. (presently

up to 48 inch; custom sizes can be made for larger sizes)

Copper clad steel (CCS) tracer wire uses a HDPE-insulated cop-

per jacket over a steel core wire for excellent strength and su-

perb conductivity with excellent abrasion resistance. Standard

tracer wire also has HDPE insulation, but over a solid copper

core.

The steel core provides strength, while the metallurgically

bonded copper jacket provides excellent conductivity. The HDPE

sheath offers a resilient, abrasion-resistant covering, ensuring

trouble-free installation.

Hawkeye offers the following connectors:

► Waterproof direct-bury, which can be attached to an existing

line without splicing, and seals the connection with silicone.

► Copper crimp tubes.

► Flange tap, which connects to a flange lug.

► Crimp & Shrink, which have integrated heat-shrink tubing

seals and protects the joint from the elements following crimp-

Compatibility & Refurbishment

The Hawkeye Tubing Drain has both increased drain capacity,

and tensile strength relative to others on the market today, as a

result of the unique port configuration.

The EUE threads of the Hawkeye Tubing Drain meet fully API

Spec 5B - 1998 (2004), and the drain itself meets EUE Coupling

dimensions specified in API Spec 5CT - 2005. All drains come

with mechanical activation grooves, and generous bevels.

Tubing Drains are available in four EUE sizes (2-3/8, 2-7/8, 3-

1/2 and 4-1/2 Tubing) and one of six (ten for 4-1/2) activation

pressures (based on number of shear screws used.) Additionally,

shear screws and seals are available as a spare-part replace-

ment kit.

The Hawkeye tubing drain is unique in that it can be manually

activated. With the mechanical activation kit, a shop press is all

that is required to activate an intact drain.

The shear screws used on the Hawkeye Tubing Drain are com-

patible with other drains that use brass shear screws. However,

the pressure sleeve is not interchangeable with other manufac-

turer’s drains. It is recommended that only Hawkeye parts are

used to repair or refurbish Hawkeye Tubing Drains.

Tubing ShearThe Hawkeye Tubing Shear is a box-by-pin tubing coupling used when release of the tubing string isdesired. The robust interlocking castelation design resists torque, and internal supports resistcompression, allowing the Tubing Shear to only activate in tension.

Design

Construction

Flexibility

Ordering Information

The Hawkeye tubing shear allows the tubing string to be discon-

nected from packers and other equipment in single, dual and

stacked completions. The tubing shear sports an interlocking

castellation for torque resistance, eliminating any combined

loading on the shear screws that could affect activation force.

The geometry of the castelation, coupled with the high-strength

alloy, allow the tubing shear to easily resist and transmit the max-

imum P110 make-up torque. Additionally, the internal geome-

try of the tubing shear fully supports compressive loads. These

two features ensure that the tubing shear will only activate in

tension, never compression or torsion. Internal seals ensure the

tubing shear is a leak-free component of the tubing string.

The precision designed and manufactured brass shear screws

offer precise and repeatable activation forces.

The tubing shear body is manufactured from AISI 4140 Q&T alloy,

far exceeding the strength of P110 grade tubing. The shear

screws are manufactured from a proprietary brass alloy to en-

sure consistant and repeatable operation. Seals are FKM (Viton)

standard, with PTFE (Teflon) back-up rings. Tubing shears ship

with thread protection on male and female threads.

Tubing shears are available in 2-7/8 EUE and 3-1/2 EUE sizes,

and with capacity of up to 8 shear screws. 5000 lb shear screws

are standard, with 2000 lb shear screws available. It is advised

that screws of only one rating are used in each drain (i.e. no mix-

and-match)

Critical Flow ProverThe critical flow prover (CFP), uses principles of critical, adiabatic, frictionless compressible flow toprovide means to determine flow rate by measuring only upstream pressure and temperature. Therugged design of the Hawkeye Industries critical flow prover ensures accurate, repeatable results.

Technical Information

The critical flow prover consists of a cylindrical body with a honed

2.00in. ID. The upstream end has a 2 NPT male connection, and

the outlet end has a sealed recess suitable for a 0.25 in. thick

orifice plate, which is retained with a knurled end cap. The criti-

cal flow prover comes complete with two taps, a 1/4 NPT and a

1/2 NPT, approximately one-diameter upstream of the orifice.

For operation and technical information, please refer to the Crit-

ical Flow Prover Technical Bulletin, document TB-0607-CFP.

The body and cap of the critical flow prover are manufactured

from carbon steel, plated with zinc dichromate for corrosion re-

sistance. Standard viton seals in the orifice plate recess ensure

leak-free operation and are suitable for use in a wide array of

gaseous environments.

The critical flow prover provides meaningful results over a wide

range of upstream / downstream pressure ratios. Empirically,

the flow of natural gas exiting the orifice will be critical when the

exit pressure is 56% (or less) of the upstream pressure, and the

orifice diameter is 60% (or less) of the upstream diameter.

Please refer to the following technical bulletins, available on our

website, for usage information regarding the critical flow prover.
