Lewannick Parish Council held their ordinary meeting at
Lewannick Village Hall on Wednesday 21 September. The meeting
commenced at 19.00 hours.
Lewannick Play Park - the installers of the Play Park hope to commence
repairs to the park from October 5.
Polyphant Green - work to the trees, following planning permission, is
scheduled to commence from 26 September. The wood from the trees will
be stored on the green and be made into features for wildlife habitat over
the winter period. We have also been awarded a grant of 30 woodland
trees from the Woodland Trust which will be planted.
Invoices for payment - David Eno £351.60 for the setting-up of our
website.
Nathan Pearson £760.00 for strimming and raking of Polyphant Green and
playing field and R Morley £196.00 for the cleaning of the bus shelters,
Lewannick, play equipment and defibrillator station.
Neighbourhood Planning - workshop - with Chris Simms, Community
Liaison Officer, Cornwall Council - Wednesday October 19 at 7pm
Polyphant Village Hall. This workshop is open to all residents within our
parish and we hope that many of you will attend. There will be
refreshments provided.
What is Neighbourhood Planning? Neighbourhood planning is a right for
communities introduced through the Localism Act 2011. Communities can
shape development in their areas through the production of
Neighbourhood Plans. Neighbourhood Development Plans become part
of the Local Plan and the policies contained within them are then used in
the determination of planning applications.
It must be stressed that the policies produced cannot block development
that is already part of the Local Plan. What it can do is shape where that
development will go and what it will look like.
Neighbourhood planning is one of the community rights.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The local parish council will lead the neighbourhood plan. A community
group known as a neighbourhood forum needs to be established to lead
and this is where we are inviting residents to participate.
The Local Planning Authority is involved and will make decisions at key
stages of the process, such as approving the neighbourhood area within
which the Neighbourhood Development Plan will have effect. It will also
organise the independent examination of the plan and the community
referendum that is held at the end of the progress.
The referendum is an important part of the process allowing those who live
in the neighbourhood to decide whether or not the Neighbourhood
Development comes into effect or not. This is direct democracy and
outlines the importance of working with the wider community and securing
the support of the community at an early stage of the process.
COME ALONG TO OUR WORKSHOP - FIND OUT HOW YOU CAN MAKE A
DIFFERENCE TO THE FUTURE OF YOUR PARISH.
Grant Funding - renewable energy developers, once the development is
approved offer community gain in the form of grant distribution for the
benefit of the local parish. Please visit their website
,www.cornwallfoundation.com for a full list of grant programmes,
application forms and guidelines.
Next ordinary meeting will take place at Polyphant Village Hall and will
commence immediately after the Neighbourhood Planning workshop.
