LFI PROJECT- MASS ATTENDANCE

GROUP I

WHAT IS THE PROBLEM?

• Many teenagers around our age do not got to regular religious services weekly.• This includes:• Mass• Reconciliation• Adoration

WHY IS IT A PROBLEM?

• God is seen as distant from the mundane, yet challenging problems of teens.

• Teens see God as a nonimportant part of their lives.

• This is a problem!

• Teenagers have a very busy life:• School• Sports• Social life

• It is hard to fit God into this schedule.• God seems left out.• Why?

WHY A PROBLEM? CONT.

• God seems to be passive to an untrained teenager eye.

• God in fact is involved in our lives if we let him in.

• Mass gives an opportunity to:• Become closer to God• Discover ourselves• Ask for guidance and forgiveness• Receive communion• Participate in a community of

believers

• Mass attendance is a BIG deal.

WHO IS BEST TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM?

• Teenagers are best to solve the problem!• Why?• To be forced to go to

church is not productive

• It is almost better to not go that to do this

• Teens must want, earnestly to go to Mass

HOW TO REMEDY THE PROBLEM

• Talk about it…• Teens respect and

believe the opinions of their piers the most.• We must realize that

talking about God is important because he is such a powerful influence in our lives.

REMEDY CONT.

• Parents should also talk with teens about mass.• Talking about the homily

and readings helps to get more out of mass.

• The more you get out of mass, the more you will want to go.

• If mass is seen as important within the family, teens will be more likely to attend services
