The title "Lord of the Mano/'
The English t i t le "Lord of the Manor" arose NOTESin the English medieval system ofgovernment fol lowing the Normanconquest of 1065. The title, separate fromthe land, remains a feudal t i t le of dignity.
A genuine "Lordship of Manor" isbacked by original legal papers and proof ofcontinuous ownership of the t i t le. Thus, in1988 when the coveted title 'The Lord ofthe Manor of Wingfield" went to auction inEngland, a fr iend of Vance Wingfield l ivingin England heard of the auction andcontacted Vance, offering to bid on the titlefor him if he was interested. Vance wasindeed interested and authorized amaximum monetary amount that his fr iendcould b id .
With that, Vance's fr iend made thehighest bid, and thus Vance became theowner of the t i t le, complete with the Brit ishlegal transfer of the t i t le to him.
Vance then gave the t i t le to theWingfield Family Society, with legaltransferpapers. So today the Wingfield FamilySociety legal ly owns that historic t i t le. "TheLord of the Manor of Wingfield"
with the signing of the transferaldocuments. We then Welcome the newLord of the Manor of Wingfield.
