Brief Summary of the story

• The ants were working throughout the summer break, collecting food whilst the grasshopper slacking away.

• One day, the ants met the grasshoppers and they had a conversation.

• “Why are you so busy working under the hot sun? Why don’t you relax and enjoy life now?” the one of the grasshoppers asked.

• “We are preparing food for the winter. Food is a lot now. Its better to store it before the cold season arrives. Food is hard to get during winter.” Replied one of the ants.

• “Ha ha ha ! Did you say preparing for the winter? Winter is still a long way off, my friend. Why hurry? Take it easy and enjoy life a little. Relek laa.. See, the sun is so hot, take a break.” laughed the grasshoppers.

• “If you don’t store up food now, you will regret later” said one of the ants.

• The grasshoppers mocked the ants, and so the ant walked away.

• During winter where food was no where to be found , the grasshopper starved. Hopeless, he finally found the ant’s cave and sought for help.

• The ant helped the grasshoppers but in return, the grasshoppers had to sing for them.

 relevance of choosing the play

• The plot can be easily understood.

• Moral value is present. (Do not work at last minute)

• The plot is simple and interesting.

• The props can be done easily. E.g. (grasshopper and ant mask)

• The dialogue are short and meaningful, comprising of simple words.

• A group of 5 to 6 pupils can carry out this drama.

• Ant 1#: We have to collect food for winter !!Ant 2#: Ya! We have to start early.Ant 3#: Because it’s hard to find food during winter.

•Ant 1#: Let’s start collecting the food tomorrow?Ant 2#: Agree !!Ant 3#: Good idea !!

• Ant 1#: Look, look, look what I have found !!Ant 2#: Ah, a cheese !! Look, he found a cheese !!Ant 3#: Wow, a cheese !! A big, yellow, cheese !!

• Ant 2#: Look, look, look what I have found !!Ant 3#: Ah, a breadcrumb !! Look, he found a breadcrumb !!Ant 1#: Wow, a breadcrumb !! A large, brown, breadcrumb !!

• Ant 3#: Look, look, look what I have found !!Ant 1#: Ah, a apple !! Look, he found a apple!!Ant 2#: Wow, a apple !! A fresh, red, apple !!

• On the middle of the road, the ants met the grasshoppers…

• Grasshp 1#: Why are you so busy?

• Grasshp 2#: Why are you carrying so many food?

• Ant 1#: We are busy!!Ant 2#: To gather food!!Ant 3#: For Winter!!

• Grasshp 1#: Ha,ha,ha, Winter is still long to go!

• Grasshp 2#: Ha,ha,ha, you guys should relax and enjoy now!

• Ant 1#: If you don’t store up food now,Ant 2#: You will regret later !!Ant 3#: Food will run out in Winter!!

• Grasshp 1#: Ha,ha,ha, this is ridiculous!

• Grasshp 2#: Ha,ha,ha, and the sun is so hot now!

• Ant 1#: Hmphh!!Ant 2#: Fine then!!Ant 3#: We are leaving!!

• Grasshp 1#: (singing) London bridge is falling down

• Grasshp 2#: (singing) falling down, falling down… London bridge..

Time passes and winter has come…

• Grasshp 1#: We are so hungry!

• Grasshp 2#: We can’t find food around!

• Grasshp 1#: Now we are really starving!

• Grasshp 2#: Why don’t we find the ants for help?

• Grasshp 1#: Alright…

• Grashps knocked on the door…

Grasshp 2#: Hello, is anyone in there?

• Grasshp 1#: Can anyone please open the door?

• Ant 1#: Oh… So it’s the grasshoppers.Ant 2#: Ya.. What can we help you?Ant 3#: Oh my, look at them, they are shaking in cold.

• Grasshp 1#: We are so sorry about last time…

• Grasshp 2#: Could we come in and have some food?

• Ant 1#: Hmmm… Alright.. But, you have to sing for us.Ant 2#: Ya ! Ya, sing for us then !Ant 3#: Okay, look at them, just let them come in already !!
