Preface

Development of new technology has changed the way people communicate around the globe. This new technology has changed the way people collaborate & share information in the context of libraries. The availability of the new technology gives libraries power to improve the customer-driven services and for evolving a library 2.0 environment.

This book is the compilation of 22 different articles that deals with the new trends and issues of application of technology in the field of LIS. The book has come to this shape because of the contribution of several authors from different parts of the country. The book also contains some of the paper presented in SIS Conference organised by me.

I am happy to acknowledge and thank Prof. N V Deshpande, Director, NIT Silchar for his cooperation, constant support and advice. I appreciate M/s S.K.Jain & Sons for bringing out this book.

Finally, I wish to thank my colleagues in the institute and my family members for their support and understanding.
