At Cedarville, I am involved with a local street evangelism ministry and will be leading a small group in the fall. In my free time, I enjoy playing sports and music and reading books. As part of a Liberty Baptist church and now as your summer missionary, I pray that as an association we can work together to bring God glory as we reach the lost in our community. I am excited to be serving with you during these months and would like to hear if there is any specific way I could assist you in your church’s ministry. FROM DOM WOODIEOver the last several months and continuing on through the summer, a small group of LAB pastors have agreed to faithfully meet and participate with an initiative called Pastor’s Toolbox which seeks to encourage and help them develop as faithful shepherds of the local church. It has been one of the most valuable things I have coordinated as DOM, and I’m grateful to the KBC and church consultant Jeff Crabtree for their investment in our churches.

ZION PASTOR & PASTOR’S TOOLBOX PARTICIPANT TIM MCCLELLAN WRITES:Recent polls suggest that more than 50,000 of the nation’s total of 350,000 pastors call it quits each year. One of the reasons for this trend is rookie pastors answer the call of a church with desire, passion, and enthusiasm to grow and move their respective church forward but lack the practical leadership skills to make it happen. The “Pastor’s Tool Box” has been designed to aide pastors,

young and old alike, in developing or improving those leadership skills.

As a first time bi-vocational pastor, the pastor’s toolbox has been a great blessing. Under the direction of Jeff Crabtree of the KBC, I have come to realize the importance of demographics, logistics, and having a Christ-centered plan in position for the growth of Christ’s bride to take place.

In order for the shepherd to feed and grow his flock, he must continue to grow himself. Like all other spiritual gifts, leadership must be refined and cultivated for personal spiritual growth to occur. Being a part of the toolbox group has done just that; it has helped me to grow. This should be the goal of every pastor, big church or small, whether twenty years of ministry or one.

The pastor’s toolbox has helped me to meet other pastors dealing with many of the same tests and trials I am facing. The fellowship alone has revealed to me that I am not in ministry alone. I have support and godly men on whom I can call for support and guidance.
