It’s 8 p.m. on a Sunday night. Your fourth grader just told you about an assignment that’s due Monday and the library is closed. With a library card, a computer and Internet access, free homework help is just a click away at www.lvccld.org.

Elementary, middle and high school students will fi nd information on a variety of subjects, along with web sites, databases and other resources to help with a research project, write a report or complete an assignment. Students can even get free homework help on-line in either English or Spanish from certifi ed tutors in English language arts, math, social studies and science. Skills building lessons and practice tests are also available.

Younger children will love the special Kids Catalog—a fun way to fi nd books, movies and more. Kids with questions can chat live with a librarian, or send in a question by email. Subscription databases off er information from encyclopedias, newspapers, magazines and books, while InfoGuides are much like a “report in a box,” bringing books, databases, web sites and a fast library catalog search into one place on a topic of interest.

“Parents’ Corner” provides an overview of the homework help resources along with additional parent-friendly information like how to sign up for a free library card, sources for writing and citing, science project resources and useful web sites.

While visiting the Young People’s Library in all urban branches, students through 8th grade will fi nd copies of Clark County School District textbooks, as well as titles that support the Nevada State Curriculum Guidelines. These books will help students with their homework in subjects such as science, civics, reading comprehension and writing.

Finally, don’t forget our professional and dedicated staff . Librarians are always happy to steer you and your child to age appropriate information available on our shelves or on our web site. Check out our homework help resources and see the ways we can be your child’s partner in success!
