HKAR-66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence

• Applicable to those certifying staff responsible for issuing Certificate of Release to Service for aeroplanes and helicopters

• Minimum 21 years of age, able to read, write and communicate

• Category B1: Line Maintenance certifying engineer - mechanical

• Category B2: Line Maintenance certifying engineer - avionics

• Category C: Base Maintenance certifying engineer

Privileges of AML

• No certification privilege unless specified on the licence

• Work under HKAR-145 approval for the issue of CRS using the HKAR-145 Certification Authorisation

HKAR-66 AML

•Basic Category:– Knowledge requirement– Experience requirement

•Type Rating Endorsement:– Type training approved by CAD

Privileges of Category A

• Category A certifying staff authorisation

- issue CRS following minor scheduled line maintenance and simple defect

rectification

- The certification privileges are restricted to work that the authorisation holder has

personally performed

- No aircraft type rating endorsed

Privileges of Category B1

• Category B1 certifying staff authorisation

- issue CRS following line maintenance, including aircraft structure, power-plants, mechanical and electrical systems plus replacement of avionic line replaceable units

Privileges of Category B2

• Category B2 certifying staff authorisation

- issue CRS following line maintenance on avionics and electrical systems

Privileges of Category C

• Category C authorisation -

- certification of scheduled base maintenance by the issue of a single CRS

for the complete aircraft after the completion of all such maintenance

- ensure that all required maintenance has been called up and signed off by

the category B1 and B2 staff before the issue of CRS

Alternative qualification for Category C

• University degree in an appropriate discipline acceptable to the CAD

• Three years experience in civil aircraft including six months in base maintenance

Type Rated HKAR-66 Licence

• normally does not confer any certification privileges on the holder in their own right unless stated on the licence

• must be used in conjunction with a HKAR-145 certification authorisation

• Cat A - Completion of aircraft task training in an approved HKAR-145 or an HKAR-147 organisation

• Cat B - Completion of relevant aircraft type training approved by the CAD or in an approved HKAR-147 AMTO

• Cat C - Completion of relevant aircraft type training approved by the CAD or in an approved HKAR-147 AMTO

• No type endorsement on the licence• Category A certifying staff are required to

hold an appropriate HKAR-66 licence prior to the grant of a HKAR-145 certification authorisation on a specific aircraft type
