PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
Well everyone, A warm hello and I’m hoping you are all getting through this period with the
Coronavirus. It seems that the restrictions will be eased shortly which will mean we may be able to recommence some of our activities. As car-pooling is used for convenience in many of our activities, this will mean waiting until social distancing rules are relaxed. The Committee has decided that resumption of activities will be at
the discretion of the Activity Convenor, bearing in mind what the Rules are at that time. Any queries regarding your activity should be made through your Convenor.
You may well be thinking, we have not had much time together as a club this last six months, plus this may be continuing for a little while longer. Life Activities Clubs Victoria Inc., our governing body, have decided to reduce the amount of our levy by 50% for the coming year, which is fantastic!
The Committee has decided to use the funds saved in this way to have “The Catch Up of All Catch Ups!” in late October, so that we can all be together once again. A real celebration! Details are found later in this newsletter.
Unusual decisions have been made as we are in unusual times. With this newsletter you will receive membership renewal forms but no nomination forms or notice of the Annual General Meeting, usually held in August. The reason for this is that the Committee has decided to extend the terms of the current office holders for 12 months, therefore no elections will necessary. Our AGM will be included with our reunion party so that the Committee can give a financial report to our members.
I would like to thank you all for assisting Carol and me, to provide the dates of birth for the club data base.
Sandra and I had a meeting with the Mayor - Nicole Seymour and 2 staff of Knox Council, the Manager of Community Wellbeing - Petrina Dodds Buckley and the Manager of Active Ageing & Disability Service - Judy Chalkley, to discuss finding new premises for some of our activities and meetings. We are waiting for them to respond on whether there are any premises available. We also were informed that our club is eligible to apply for grants which could assist the club.
Monika Harding is resigning from the Committee and I thank her for her input over the last 12 months.
Looking forward to being able to see you again, although it has been good catching up with some of our members on the phone. We can’t wait to welcome you back!
Margaret
