UNHEALTHY (NORMAL)
This is the main dish for the normal or the unhealthy version of my meal I can eat in Burger
King. This has a great amount of sodium, cholesterol and fat, which are all bad for you
because they do not easily go out of your body but stays in there. Also, this burger has trans-
fat and saturated fat. Saturated fats are bad for your body, because it directly raises LDL
cholesterol levels. Trans-fats are also bad, because they can raise LDL cholesterol levels like
what saturated fats do. High amount of sodium can increase blood pressure, although it
makes the food taste much better. The increased blood pressure and harder work for your
heart can cause high blood pressure.
This coke has large amount of carbohydrates and sugar. This also has sodium, but missing
other nutrients. High amount of sugar can suppress your immune system, and reduces HDL
(the good ones.) In addition, sugar can increase cholesterol and lowers the amount of
Vitamin E in the blood. Therefore, even though the nutrition facts say that there is no
cholesterol included in the drink, sugar can increase cholesterol. Therefore, this drink is
considered as an unhealthy drink.
This dessert is unhealthy for your body, because it has really high amount of carbohydrates,
cholesterol, sodium, and sugar. Those can cause blood pressure, and many other diseases.
Also, the amount of carbohydrates is much greater than the amount of protein included in
the dessert. Sugars and carbohydrates can supply quick energy when you need quick energy.
However, they usually are bad, because those supply calories but few or no nutrients. The
recommended serving size of sugar is about nine teaspoons a day for people. It means that
people need to eat about 45 g of sugar a day. This dessert has 70 g of sugar, which is already
over the recommended amount of sugar. Therefore, this dessert is considered to be an
unhealthy dessert.
HEALTHIER
This is the main dish for the healthier version of my meal I can have in Burger King. It still has
great amount of sodium, cholesterol and fat, but much less than the burger in the unhealthy
version of my meal. Compared to the unhealthy version, this burger does not have trans-fat,
which prevents you to have higher level of LDL (bad ones.) Also, the amount of
carbohydrates does not go over the amount of protein. Taking enough amounts of
carbohydrate and protein is important for your body. You cannot use energy if you do not
have sufficient amount of protein. Also, carbohydrates provide the energy that protein
supports. Taking too much of them would cause bad results, but you still need to take
certain amount of protein and carbohydrates in order to utilize your energy and not harm
your body. Therefore, this would be a healthier version of what I chose above for the
unhealthy version of my meal.
I tried to find a healthy drink, but I finally decided to choose water, because other drinks had
really high amount of sodium and sugar, some of them even higher than the main dishes.
Although water does not have other nutrients, like protein, sugar and sodium, water still is
one of the six essential nutrients. Water is needed for all body to function, and it also may
remove toxins from our body. Therefore, this would be much healthier than drinking a cup
of coke, which has large amount of sodium, sugar and carbohydrates.
This dessert would be much healthier than the one I chose for the unhealthy version,
because it has many different kinds of nutrients in it, and each of them absolutely does not
go over the recommended amount. The amount of protein and carbohydrates are about the
same, and this has no sugar and trans-fat. The amount of cholesterol, fat and saturated fat
are also quite low. Although this dessert still has a higher amount of sodium than any other
nutrients, this is absolutely lower than the dessert I chose for the unhealthy version. This
dessert would be much healthier than eating the one I found unhealthy.
