Welcome to the Ministry Program! The greatest honor that God can grant upon a person is to be called to be His servant, to live their life for the purpose of ministry to God and man. Oftentimes we forget the importance of God's call. We, in our minds can elevate the position of a medical doctor, a mayor, a congressman, or even the president of the United States above that of being a minister unto God. Let me remind you, that to be a doctor is simply a choice that a person makes. To be a politician means to be elected and appointed by people. But to be a true minister of the gospel, whether a teacher, pastor, apostle, evangelist, or a prophet, requires that God, the creator of the universe has chosen you. He has put His hand upon your life and said, "while others may live for other purposes, I have chosen you to follow Me, and to live for My purpose." What a tremendous honor that God has chosen you to be His servant! Your responsibility now, is to respond accordingly in the following areas: Your first priority will be to develop a deep, intimate relationship with the Father, such as Abraham, Moses, David, Isaiah, Jesus, and likewise with the Holy Spirit as the New Testament Acts church had, as in the Apostle Paul, Peter, and James. This is accomplished through seeking His face through prayer and time alone with Him; fasting and waiting in His presence. He tells us that we are to "study to show ourselves approved, a workman that need not to be ashamed..." (2 Tim. 2:15) A program of diligent study, so that we understand the Word and its true application to the multitude of circumstances that make up life. Also, rightly dividing the Word of Truth, so that we are not "carried about by every wind of doctrine..." (Eph. 4:14) The word "minister" means to care for, to serve in humility toward all men, to wait on, and to be an ambassador, representing the King of kings here on earth. No matter what area of service you are chosen to serve in, the focus of your attention is that you would be conformed to the likeness of Christ in your heart, which will manifest itself in your personal life.

Remember, that when you put your hand to the plow, you are not to look back, (Luke 9:62) but you are to press on toward the mark of the high calling of God (Phil. 3:14). I assure you, the devil, relatives, friends, those around you, will oftentimes be used to distract you, to cause discouragement, but remember, one day, we will stand before God to give an account of our obedience in response to His call on our life. Your goal should be on that day to hear the Lord say to you, "Well done, good and faithful servant!" Congratulations! We are here to encourage and help you fulfill God's glorious call on your life. FORWARD

The following is intended as a guide on requirements and levels of training in the MINISTRY PROGRAM of Light in the Word Ministries & Victory Faith Center.

A person must be recognized as having a call of God on their lives before they can be considered for this program.

The program has been designed to prepare you with the skills, confidence and leadership abilities necessary for you to serve in the ministry which God has called you to.

It is our intention to prepare you for the responsibilities which will be expected of you and for which you will be held accountable.

Please note that some of you will be called to be lay leaders in the church while others will be called into full time ministry and be working toward ordination.

ACCEPTANCE INTO MINISTRY PROGRAM:

INITIAL INTERVIEW If a person has a desire to serve in a leadership capacity or feels a calling to full time ministry, he/she should make an appointment to meet with the Director of the Ministry Program; at which time an application may be filed. PRE-REQUISITE QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a Christian for at least 1 year. • Baptized by full immersion. • Baptized in the Holy Spirit with evidence of speaking in tongues. • A partner of LWM | Victory Faith Center, or affiliate. • Presently involved and faithfully engaged in an area of ministry and demonstrating

leadership characteristic and abilities. • Faithful in tithing. • Faithful in attending services. APPLICATION EXAMINATION After his/her initial meeting, he/she will be required to take an application placement questionnaire. ACCEPTANCE Based on the completion of the examination, the fulfillment of all prerequisites, and the interview with the Director & Lead Pastor of Light in the Word Ministries; a decision will be made as to entrance into the program and recognition as a Level 1 Minister in Training. A candidate may move into further levels from the start of the engagement depending on their ministry/biblical study background. This is at the discretion of the Ministry Program Committee.

INTERN MINISTRY PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

STEP 1 • Interview with Program Director & Lead Pastor of Light in the Word Ministries • File an application • Complete application examination

STEP 2: Recognition as a Level 1 Minister in Training • Assignment to an overseer • Completion of all requirements of level 1 • Score of 70% or higher on level 1 examination Personal profile interview with

LEVEL 1 MINISTER IN TRAINING

A Level 1 Minister in Training is a person who has proven to be faithful and diligent as a servant to the body of Christ. having demonstrated these qualities and characteristics they will then be given the opportunity to serve as a leader in one of the different areas of the ministry (Small Group Program, Sunday School teaching, greeters, Youth Ministry, Choir, Visitation, special events, projects, etc.)

As a Level 1 Minister in Training you will be regularly evaluated by the person who is the head of the area in which you are working, as well as periodic reviews by the overseer assigned to assist you. At anytime you may be given additional responsibilities or be asked to serve in a different area of ministry.

NOT EVERY PERSON IS CALLED TO FULL TIME MINISTRY. Some may be called as a Lay Leader in the church throughout their Christian walk. As a Lay Leader, the work you will be doing is very important both to the ministry and to the Lord; therefore it should not be taken lightly. All that you do should be done as unto the Lord. If after a year of service as a Level 1 Minister in Training, a man or a woman feels a call of God to full time ministry, they be given an opportunity to meet with the Director of the Ministry Program to discuss this calling.

LEVEL 1 MINISTER IN TRAINING

THE FOLLOWING ARE REQUIRED OF YOU IN ORDER TO ADVANCE TO LEVEL 2 1. Attendance in and successful completion of a final examination in the following courses

through Rhema Correspondence School: [

• Dynamics of Faith • Healing Truths • Charismatic Truths

2. Reading of all the require materials assigned by instructor of each class, and the

overseer assigned to you.

3. Involvement in a small group event (outreach, worship night, community potluck, etc)

4. One full year of service; during this year, he/she will: • Demonstrate a willingness to submit to authority. • Be willing to assist in special functions, at which time he/she will have an

LEVEL 2 LAY MINISTER THE FOLLOWING ARE REQUIRED OF YOU IN ORDER TO ADVANCE TO LEVEL 3

I 1. Should be able to lead a soul to Christ, and into the Baptism of the Holy Spirit

(Showing a consistent fruit of ministry).

2. Be faithful in 1 to 2 areas of ministry, including participation in home group. 3. Possession of and a good understanding in the usage of research books such as:

linear translations, commentaries, concordance. 4. Attendance in and successful completion of a final examination in the following

courses through Rhema Correspondence School: • The Christian Life • Covenant Truths • Life of Prayer

5. Should have read and written reports for the following:

• "Ordering your Private World- Gordon MacDonald" and, • “The Believer's Authority – Kenneth Hagin"

6. Receive a good review on the Personal Profile Evaluation. 7. Score 70% or higher on level 2 examination; to include material covered in courses of

study, general biblical knowledge and memorization of the books of the New Testament and their authors.

APPROVAL BY ELDERS After successful completion of level 2, you will meet with the elders which consists of the Lead Pastor of Light in the Word Ministries, the program director of the ministry program, your local lead pastor if available and will be considered for the Setting Apart. At the time of your meeting with the elders, you should have clear direction as to which area of ministry you feel called to according to Eph. 4:11. Once the approval has been established to move into the Setting Apart the Lay Minister will schedule a one night & One day fasting trip outside of their current busy lives. To set themselves apart and seek God through a given scripture and prayer list that will develop their prayer life, faith, and believe that God has something better for them! The Lay Minister will journal all that the Holy Spirit speaks during this time of prayer and fasting and share with the Program Director once returned.

Assistant Pastor - LEVEL 3 THE FOLLOWING ARE REQUIRED OF YOU IN ORDER TO ADVANCE TO LEVEL 4 1. Should be skilled in the application of the scriptures in every day life.

2. Have experience teaching on a regular basis. 3. Should have preached a minimum of 3 sermons with a written outline of context to

be given to your overseer.

4. Attendance in and successful completion of a final examination in one of the following courses of study:

PASTORAL MINISTRY: • Pastoral Services • Interpreting the Scriptures • Old Testament Studies • Life of Christ

EVANGELISTIC MINISTRY: • Introduction to Missions • Personal Evangelism • Old Testament Studies • Interpreting the Scriptures

5. Should have participated, observed, and assisted in; and have a scriptural

understanding of baby dedications, water baptism, weddings, house dedications, hospital visitations, and funerals.

6. Should have read and written reports for the following:

• "The Jonah Pastor", • "Christ Our Healer".

7. Receive a good review on the Personal Profile Evaluation. 8. Score 70% or higher on a level 3 examination; to include material covered in

courses of study and general biblical knowledge including:

• A clear definition of "faith", "sanctification", "hope", "salvation" and other terms. • Testing on your ability to rightly divide the Word

Licensed Pastor - LEVEL 4

THE FOLLOWING ARE REQUIRED OF YOU IN ORDER TO ADVANCE TO FULL ORDINATION: 1. Meet scriptural requirements found in 1Timothy 3:6-16 for an elder and deacon.

2. Should be at least 18 years of age. 3. Experience in the following:

• 1 Wedding • 1 Baby Dedications • 1 House Dedication • 1 Funeral • 2 Water Baptisms • Hospital Visitation, Counseling, Preaching, and Teaching on a regular basis

4. Receive a good review on the Personal Profile Evaluation.

5. Attendance in and successful completion of a final examination in one of the following

courses of study course links provided at time of entry of Level 4:

PASTORAL MINISTRY: • Principals of Counseling • Homiletics • New Testament studies • Eschatology EVANGELISTIC MINISTRY • Study of the Cults • Homiletics • New Testaments studies • Eschatology

6. Should be working in an area of counseling.

7. Should have read and written reports for the following: " The Triumphant Church:

Dominion Over All the Powers of Darkness” and "Spiritual Authority".

8. Score 70% or higher on level 4 examination; to include material covered in courses of study and general biblical knowledge to include: the Godhead, the Bible, the Holy Spirit, the Second Coming, Healing, Atonement, and the Church.

NOTE: Additional work may be required at the discretion of the Director of the Ministry

Program.

ENDORSEMENT BY ELDERS You will come before the Council of Elders of Light in the Word Ministries for review, which will give you the full endorsement of the ministers of Light in the Word Ministries. The council of elders will also be present for ordination. Your credentials will be reviewed annually, and a special certificate of ordination as well as a personalized Identification Card recognizing you as an ordained minister will be presented to you at the time of ordination. UPON FULL ORDINATION, you can choose to stay with Victory Faith Center with the possible recognition of an Associate Pastor, or you can begin a new work as long as you remain in accord with the Word of God and the ministerial policies of Light in the Word Ministries.
