Columbia Brazoria ISD West Brazos Middle SchoolThe project consists of an $8,000,000 new Junior High School. The first LEED Certified Public Schoolin the State of Texas. The 92,000 SF school serves 600 students in grades 7th and 8th. Featuresinclude optimal use of natural light throughout the school, exposed structure using glue-lam woodmembers as well as sustainable materials throughout.As a Junior Designer for the West Brazos Middle School, I coordinated Consultants and Engineers inorder to comply with the Design intent. Provided Design presentations and assisted the Owner inmaterial and color selections for the Project. I coordinated efforts with the Project Architect and LEEDAP to create a school that promoted Sustainability, as well as excellent Design features. The WestBrazos Middle School is the first LEED certified school in Texas. This project has been showcased inseveral publications.
