PANTHERS AND EAGLES MEET IN MONDAY NIGHT MATCHUP After an October that saw the Panthers drop three of four contests, a Carolina turnaround faces still another steep challenge with a Monday Night Football matchup at Philadelphia. The Panthers are coming off a 10-day layoff after dropping a 28-10 Thursday night decision to New Orleans while the 6-2 Eagles come back home fol- lowing a 31-21 victory at Houston on Sunday. The loss to the Saints left the Panthers 3-5-1 for the season as they play a 2013 playoff team for the fifth week in a row. Despite the disappointing record, Carolina still remains only a game out of first place in the NFC South. “It has been a long time since the start of training camp and the mini-break has given us a chance to possibly get back some players we have been missing," says head coach Ron Rivera. Nowhere have those absences been more noticeable than along the offensive line where Carolina started two rookie free agents in guard Andrew Norwell and tackle David Foucault against the Saints. Rivera is hopeful of getting back starters Amini Silatolu at left guard and Byron Bell at left tackle for the Eagles. The losses have impacted the Panthers on offense where Carolina has managed only 46 points in the last three games during losses to Green Bay, Seattle, and New Orleans. In the games previous to those Carolina scored 37 points at Cincinnati and 31 against Chicago. Running back has been another injury plagued position but starter DeAngelo Williams returned after a five game absence to join Jonathan Stewart in the backfield against New Orleans as the Panthers rushed for 100 yards in back-to-back games for the first time this season. The passing game has been able to compensate for the injuries in the backfield for most of the season, but turned in its most sporadic performance of the year against the Saints with only 151 yards. Even season-long receiving leaders Kelvin Benjamin and tight end Greg Olsen struggled, combining for only five catches and 48 yards as veteran Jerricho Cotchery provided the biggest play of the game with a 47-yard reception and two catches for 59 yards. Olsen still leads the team in receptions with 45 for 539 yards while Benjamin has 40 catches for a team-best 589 yards. Both players have five touchdowns each. Quarterback Cam Newton has navigated through the offensive changes to throw eight touchdown passes against five interceptions for an 81.4 passer rating while being the team’s second leading rusher with 257 yards, only six behind Stewart’s team leading total. The Saints reached Newton for four sacks behind Carolina’s reworked offensive line, but the Panthers also managed to sack Drew Brees four times as Charles Johnson, Dwan Edwards, Wes Horton, and Colin Jones reached the quarterback. Johnson and Edwards combined their sacks with takeaways as Johnson recorded his 16th career forced fumble, tying him with Mike Minter for second place in team history while Edwards sack was his fourth of the season and 13 of the 11-year veteran’s 18 career sacks have come in his two-and-a-half seasons with Carolina. Edwards also recorded an interception to increase his career total to three. Despite those statistics, the Panthers still ranked 24th in yardage allowed and 25th in points per contest as they prepare to face the Eagles offense, which is fourth in both total yardage and points scored. Along with Johnson and Edwards, much of the responsibility will fall on linebackers Luke Keuchly and Thomas Davis, who lead the team in tackles with 99 and 76, respectively. Like the offense, the defense has also been forced to rely on some first year players as Tre Boston started at safety against the Saints and second round pick Kony Ealy continued to see substantial play- ing time. “We know we are playing a very good team in a very hard place to play,” says Rivera, who served as an assistant with the Eagles five years. “We have played some good football, but have not played it consistently. That cannot be the case if we are to win Monday night.” LINCOLN FINANCIAL FIELD (69,144) / NOVEMBER 10, 2014 • 8:30 PM / PANTHERS.COM / @PANTHERSPR CAROLINA PANTHERS (3-5-1) AT PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (6-2) Through nine games, tight end Greg Olsen is fourth among NFL tight ends with 45 receptions, second with 539 receiving yards and is tied for fifth at his position with five receiving touchdowns. Ron RIVERA

NFL: 18th seasonPanthers: 4th seasonRegular Season: 28-28-1 (.500)Postseason: 0-1 (.000)

Ron Rivera became the fourth coach in Carolina Panthers history on January 11, 2011. In 2013, his third year with the Panthers, Rivera led Carolina to 12 wins, the NFC South division title and the first playoff appearance since 2008. After starting the season with a 1-3 record, the Panthers won 11 of their final 12 regular season games – including a franchise record eight-game winning streak – to secure the No. 2 seed in the NFC and a first-round bye. In recognition of that success, Rivera was named NFL Coach of the Year.

Carolina’s record has improved every season since Rivera became head coach in 2011. Dating back to Week 12 of the 2012 season, the Panthers have won 17 of their last 22 regular season games.

Before joining the Panthers, Rivera worked with the San Diego Chargers from 2007-2010, coaching inside linebackers before taking over as defensive coordinator midway through the 2008 season. In 2010, San Diego led the NFL with an average of 271.6 total yards allowed per game and gave up a League-low 177.8 passing yards per game.

From 2004-06, Rivera oversaw the Chicago Bears defense, guiding the unit to two top-five finishes in the league. In 2006, the Bears defense led the NFL with 44 takeaways and finished fifth in total defense and third in scoring defense, helping propel Chicago to an appearance in Super Bowl XLI. In 2005, Rivera’s defensive unit ranked second in the NFL in total defense and first in scoring defense. The Bears went 43 consecutive quarters without allowing more than seven points – the longest streak in the NFL since 1969.

Prior to serving as defensive coordinator with the Bears, Rivera was linebackers coach for the Eagles (1999-2003) and defensive quality control coach for the Bears (1997-98).

A second-round draft choice in 1984 by Chicago, Rivera played nine seasons with the Bears. Primarily an outside linebacker, he was a member of the Super Bowl XX championship team in 1985.

An All-American at the University of California, Rivera finished his career as the school’s all-time leader in sacks with 22 and tackles with 336.

Born January 7, 1962 in Fort Ord, Calif. He and his wife, Stepha-nie, have two children – Christopher and Courtney.

Chip KELLY

NFL: 2nd seasonEagles: 2nd seasonRegular Season: 16-8 (.667)Postseason: 0-1 (.000)

Chip Kelly became the 21st head coach in franchise history on January 16, 2013. In his first season in professional foot-ball, Kelly produced a 10-6 record and an NFC East cham-pionship, becoming just the second head coach in league history to win a division title in his first season in the NFL. Along the way, the Eagles set a plethora of team records, including points (442), total net yards (6,676), touchdowns (53), passing yards (4,406) and fewest turnovers (19). The Eagles also set an NFL record with 99 plays of 20+ yards.

The 2013 season was his first NFL coaching experience after 23 years of working in the college ranks.

One of college football’s most successful coaches, Kelly put his stamp on a new generation of offensive schemes during his four years at the helm of the University of Oregon program. In four seasons as the head coach of the Ducks, he compiled a 46-7 overall record and transformed the school into one of the nation’s premiere college football destina-tions. Kelly became the first coach in Oregon’s history to guide the program to three undisputed conference cham-pionships from 2009-12. In his four seasons at Oregon, the Ducks scored a whopping 44.7 points per game. They also led the FBS in big plays, including 25-yard passing plays (220) and 25-yard rushes (110).

Kelly attended the University of New Hampshire and earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education in 1990.

Kelly coached at Columbia (1990-91), New Hampshire (1992, 1994-2006), Johns Hopkins (1993), and Oregon (2007-12).

Kelly was born November 25, 1963, in Dover, N.H.

Carolina Panthers 30; PhiladelPhia eagles 22november 26, 2012 - linColn FinanCial Field, PhiladelPhia, Pa

Carolina quarterback Cam Newton accounted for four touchdowns and the Panthers defense forced three turnovers leading Carolina to a 30-22 victory over Philadelphia on Monday Night Football. On Carolina’s first drive, tight end Gary Barnidge put the Panthers ahead with a 24-yard touchdown catch – the first of his five-year career. Following a Philadelphia three-and-out on the ensuing possession, Carolina needed just three plays and 43 seconds to find the end zone again. Newton hit wide receiver Brandon LaFell, who ran untouched for a 43-yard touch-down with 3:36 left in the opening quarter. Philadelphia kicker Alex Henery connected on a 41-yard field goal in the opening minute of the second quarter, cutting the Carolina lead to 14-6. After the Panthers were forced to punt, Bryce Brown ran for a 65-yard touchdown. The Eagles looked to tie the game with a two-point try, but quarterback Nick Foles’ pass was incomplete. Henery later gave Philadelphia a one-point advantage going into the half with a 45-yard field goal with 3:20 remaining in the second quarter. The Panthers received the ball to start the second half, and they took advantage. The Panthers marched 95 yards in 11 plays – highlighted by a 55-yard completion to wide receiver Louis Murphy – and Newton leapt across the goal line for a 1-yard touchdown on third-and-goal. Brown scored his second touchdown of the night moments later, but his second lost fumble late in the third quarter started a Panthers’ late-game flurry. Carolina took over at the Phiadelphia 45-yard line and newly-acquired kicker Graham Gano’s 23-yard field goal gave the Panthers a 23-22 lead with 12:43 to go. The Eagles drove to the Carolina 40-yard line on the ensuing possesion but failed to gain the single yard needed. The Panthers promptly converted the fourth down stop into points. Newton engineered a six-play, 60-yard drive that he culminated with his second rushing touchdown of the game – a 2-yard score on a sneak with just under five minutes left.

• These players can reach the 100 career games played mile-stone in 2014: Thomas DeCoud (97), Ryan Kalil (96) and DeAngelo Williams (99). Colin Cole (107 games) reached the 100 games played milestone in Week One, Antoine Cason (105 games) reached the milestone in Week Four and Charles Johnson (102) reached the mark in Week Seven.

• With 13 games played in 2014, center Ryan Kalil would become the third offensive lineman in team history to play in 100 career games.

• With 16 starts in 2014, center Ryan Kalil would be the ninth player in Panthers history to start in 100 career games.

• With 178 tackles in 2014 linebacker Luke Kuechly will pass Chris Gamble (558 from 2004-12) for third most in Panthers history.

• In Week Seven at Green Bay (10/19/14), quarterback Cam Newton passed Steve Beuerlein (12,690 from 1996-2000) for second all-time in passing yards. Newton also has the chance this season to pass Beuerlein for second in team history in attempts, completions and passing touchdowns. Newton needs 249 attempts, 160 completions, and 23 touchdowns this season to pass Beuerlein (1,723; 1,041; 86) in those categories. With one 300-yard passing game, Newton can tie Beurerlein (8) for the second-most 300-yard passing games in team history.

• In Week Six at Cincinnati (10/12/14), Cam Newton (2,222) passed Stephen Davis (2,085 from 2003-05) for fifth all-time in Panthers history. Newton needs 499 rushing yards this sea-son to pass Tshimanga Biakabutuka (2,530 from 1996-2001) for fourth all-time.

• Wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin has 40 catches for 589 yards and five touchdowns this season. He needs eight more recep-tions, 166 more yards and one more touchdown to pass Keary Colbert (47 for 754 and five in 2004) for the most by a rookie in Panthers history.

• Cornerback Antoine Cason will look to extend his streak of 105 consecutive games played, tied for the third-longest in the NFL among active cornerbacks. In Week Six at Cincinnati (10/12/14), Cason snared his second interception of the season, becoming one of two active players with multiple interceptions in each of their first seven seasons, joining DeAngelo Hall.

• In Week Six at Cincinnati (10/12/14), Greg Olsen (2,738) passed Mark Carrier (2,547 from 1995-98) for fourth all-time in team history. Olsen is 1,165 yards short of Wesley Walls (3,902 from 1996-2002) for third in team history.

• With 10 sacks this season, defensive end Charles Johnson would become the second player in team history with double-digit sacks in four or more seasons (Julius Peppers). With a sack in Week Six at Cincinnati (10/12/14), Johnson (58.0) passed Mike Rucker (55.5 from 1999-2007) for the second-most in team history.

WHAT TO LOOK FORWide receiver Brenton Bersin, a Charlotte, N.C. native, entered very select company this season after making the Panthers opening-day 53-man roster.

The receiver joined Panthers owner Jerry Richardson as the only players in Wofford College history to make an NFL regular season roster. Richardson played his final NFL contest in 1960, and Bersin ended a nearly 54-year drought for the school.

Bersin made his NFL debut in Week Two vs. Detroit (9/14/14), catching one pass for eight yards. He has played in eight games, earning his first career start in Week Eight vs. Seattle (10/26/14). He has nine catch-es for 104 yards and a touchdown on the season and has added three punt returns for 19 yards and five kickoff returns for 135 yards. His 49-yard kickoff return vs. Seattle (10/26/14) was the longest for the Panthers since Kealoha Pilares' 76-yard

return at Indianapolis (11/27/11).

Bersin's 1-yard touchdown reception in Week Seven at Green Bay (10/19/14) is the first touchdown catch by a player from Wofford since Richardson had a touchdown as a member of the Baltimore Colts at Dallas (10/30/60).

As a junior at Wofford in 2010, Bersin’s nine touchdown catches tied the Wofford single-season record set by Richardson in 1958.

Bersin, played four seasons at Wofford (2008-11), the 1,600-stu-dent school in Spartanburg, S.C., that has hosted the Panthers training camp for each of the team's 20 seasons. In his collegiate career, Bersin played in 46 games with 33 starts and totaled 77 catches for 1,567 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Bersin earned a spot of the Panthers roster after a strong pre-season in which he was the Panthers second-leading receiver, totaling seven catches for 117 yards a touchdown.

Bersin spent last season on the Panthers practice squad and also attended training camp with the team as a rookie in 2012.

When Steve Wilks was hired as second-ary/pass defense coordinator prior to the 2012 season, it was a homecoming for the Charlotte native.

In the 1980s Wilks starred at quarterback for West Charlotte and played collegiately at Appalachian State before spending one season with the Charlotte Rage of the Arena Football League in 1993. He began his coaching career at Johnson C. Smith

University in 1995.

Following 11 years coaching on the college level, Wilks entered the NFL coaching ranks in 2006 when he joined Panthers head coach Ron Rivera in Chicago. With Rivera serving as defensive coordina-tor and Wilks leading the Bears secondary, Chicago won the NFC Championship and advanced to Super Bowl XLI. The two reunited in 2010 in San Diego, helping the Chargers lead the NFL in total defense and pass defense.

Wilks has been an important part of the Panthers coaching staff. Last season, Wilks directed a unit that helped the Panthers finish second in the NFL in total defense and sixth in passing defense. Defensive backs were responsible for 16 of the team’s 20 interceptions, including a team-record four returned for touchdowns. Carolina also limited opponents to an 81.4 passer rating, which ranked 10th in the NFL.

Wilks’ secondary received signifi cant con-tributions from rookies and veterans alike. Undrafted rookie cornerback Melvin White started the last 10 games and posted two interceptions with one touchdown, while safety Robert Lester, another undrafted rookie, tallied three inter-ceptions. Mike Mitchell, who started 14 games at free safety after a season-ending injury to Charles Godfrey, was one of two players in the NFL with at least four interceptions, three sacks and two forced fumbles, and cornerback Captain Munnerlyn returned his only two interceptions for touchdowns.

Ricky Proehl spent 17 seasons as an NFL player, including three with the Carolina Panthers from 2003-05. In 2014, Proehl enters his fourth season as a member of the coaching staff, serving as wide receivers coach for the second consecu-tive season.

In his career, Proehl played in 244 games with 110 starts for Phoenix/Arizona, St. Louis, Seattle, Chicago, Carolina and

Indianapolis. Proehl was a member of four Super Bowl teams, including championship teams with the Rams and Colts. He finished his career with 669 catches for 8,878 yards and 54 touchdowns.

Proehl caught a touchdown from 16 different players, second-most in NFL history behind Irving Fryar (19).

PLAYERS WHO THREW A TOUCHDOWN PASS TO RICKY PROEHL

In three seasons with the Panthers, Proehl tallied 86 catches for 1,327 yards and eight touchdowns and was a member of two playoff teams. He is responsible for one of the most well-known plays in franchise history when in the 2003 season opener vs. Jacksonville, his first game with Carolina, Proehl caught a 12-yard touchdown on fourth down with 16 seconds left to cap a come-from-behind win and propel the Panthers on their Super Bowl run.

The Panthers coaching staff includes two members – Mike Shula and Sam Mills III – whose fathers are prominent football figures.

Shula, the Panthers offensive coordinator, is the son of Don Shula, the NFL leader in career coaching victories with 347. Don Shula led the Miami Dolphins to two Super Bowl victories, including a perfect 17-0 season in 1972. “He’s an unbelievable sounding board,” Mike said of his father, now 84. “Whenever I’ve had to ask tough questions, I’ve always gone to him first because he’s not going to give me the answer that I want to hear – he’s going to

give me the answer that I need to hear.”

The Panthers assistant defensive line coach, Mills, is the son of former Panthers linebacker and linebackers coach Sam Mills, Jr., who lost an inspiring battle with cancer six years ago. A starting linebacker on the Panthers inaugural team in 1995, Sam Mills, Jr., propelled the Panthers to their first victory with an interception return for a touchdown against the New York Jets (10/15/95) and he is the only player in the team’s Hall of Honor. He was

a member of the team’s coaching staff from 1998-2004. “It’s an honor, especially around here with how he was able to touch people’s lives,” Mills III, said. “I hope that I can live up to it.”

Richard Rodgers is the Panthers special teams coordinator. More than thirty years ago, Rodgers was part of one of the most famous plays in college football history – “The Play”

The improbable five-lateral kickoff return for a touchdown allowed Rodgers’ California Golden Bears to defeat the John Elway-led Stanford Cardinal on the final play of the game between the two rivals

in 1982.

In addition to featuring five laterals, “The Play” also included an appearance by members of the Stanford band, who thinking the play had been blown dead, entered he field of play midway through the return. Cal radio play-by-play announcer Joe Starkey called the return “the most amazing, sensational, dramatic, heart-rending...exciting, thrilling finish in the history of college football.”

In his 25 years of coaching, “The Play” has served Rodgers well.

“Since then I’ve been able to call on The Play as a tool of learning for players that I coach – never give up, never quit, you never know when you’re going to make history,” said Rodgers. “I certainly didn’t know that Saturday morning The Play was going to happen. That’s why you keep playing.”

French-Canadian offensive tackle David Foucault (foo-KOH), the fifth overall selec-tion in the 2014 Canadian Football League Draft by the Montreal Alouettes, has played five games for the Panthers this season after making the team's 53-man roster following the preseason. He earned his first career start in Week Nine vs. New Orleans (10/30/14).

The 6-foot-8-inch, 305-pound lineman joined the Panthers as a free agent after

participating in the team's rookie minicamp in May on a tryout basis.

Foucault is the first player from the University of Montreal to make an NFL roster. He played four seasons for the Carabins, moving to the offensive line in 2011 after starting on the defensive line in 2010. Foucault played in the 2013 CIS (Canadian Interuniversity Sport) East-West Bowl after helping the team average 6.0 yards per rush. In 2012, he opened holes in for the conference's leading rusher.

Foucault is one of two rookies from Canadian colleges to make NFL active rosters, joining offensive guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif of McGill University who was a sixth-round pick of the Kansas City Chiefs.

LONG DRIVES

The Panthers Week Six matchup at Cincinnati (10/12/14), ended in a 37-37 tie after each team traded field goals in the overtime period. It was the first tie in Panthers history and the team's record in overtime is now 5-10-1.

It marked the second overtime game to end in a tie after both teams scored points in the extra period since the modified sud-den death overtime rules were implemented for the 2012 regular season. The format guarantees each team a possession or the opportunity to possess the ball in overtime, unless the team that receives the opening kickoff scores a touchdown on its initial possession.

The 74 combined points are the most ever in an NFL overtime game that ended in a tie. The game marks the most combined points in a tie game since the Boston Patriots tied the Oakland Raiders, 43-43, on October 16, 1964, which occurred before the advent of NFL overtime rules in 1974.

Wide receiver Jason Avant was the Panthers second-leading receiver in Week Two vs. Detroit (9/14/14) as he finished with five catches for 54 yards and one touchdown. The five catches vs. Detroit tied his highest total from 2013, his final season with the Eagles. He matched the five catches in Week Six at Cincinnati (10/12/14)Avant is known for his ability to make tough catches across the middle and including the playoffs, he has converted 88 of 104 career third down catches for first downs (84.6 percent).

AVANT MAKES HIS PRESENCE FELT

Wide receiver Jason Avant totaled five catches for 54 yards and had his first touchdown catch as a Panther in Week Two vs. Detroit (9/14/14).

Running back Jonathan Stewart scored his first rushing touch-down since 2012 vs. Tampa Bay (11/18/12) when he rumbled two yards for a score in Week Two vs. Detroit (9/14/14). 2013 has marked the return to action for Stewart who has been derailed by injuries the last two seasons. This season, Stewart has played in six games with four starts and leads the team with 66 rushes for 263 yards (4.0-yard average). The sixth-year back from Oregon stands second in franchise his-tory with 932 rushing attempts, 4,279 rushing yards and nine games with 100 or more rushing yards. He is third in team history with 28 career rushing touchdowns. Stewart posted a career-high 206 rushing yards on 28 carries atNew York Giants (12/27/09) is the second-highest single-gametotal in Panthers history.

STEWART BACK IN ACTIONWide receiver Jerricho Cotchery returned to North Carolina when he signed with the Panthers in March. A former record-setting receiver at North Carolina State University, Cotchery joined the Panthers after three seasons (2011-13) with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

This season, Cotchery ranks third on the team with 28 catches and 375 yards. His 13.4-yard per catch average is second on

team team among receivers with at least 10 catches behind Kelvin Benjamin's 14.7-yard average.

In 2013, Cotchery led the Steelers with a career-high 10 touch-downs, all of which came in the red zone, including eight in the last nine games. His 10 touchdowns tied for 10th in the NFL. Cotchery finished the season with 46 catches for 602 yards and tied for fourth in the NFL with 78.3 percent of his receptions resulting in first downs.

Cotchery began his career with the New York Jets, playing seven seasons (2004-10) with the team. He posted back-to-back sea-sons of 82 catches in 2006 and 2007 with the Jets, tallying more than 1,000 receiving yards in 2007.

Running back DeAngelo Williams led the Panthers in 2013 with 843 rushing yards, his highest rushing total since the 1,117 he gained in 2009. Williams added a career-high 333 receiving yards to lead the Panthers with a combined 1,176 total yards from scrimmage.

Williams totaled four touchdowns (three rushing, one receiving) in 2013 and now has 53 total touchdowns in his career (46

rushing, seven receiving), passing wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad (50 receiving) for the second-most touchdowns in team history.

Williams’ production is evident throughout the Panthers record books.

A first-round draft choice (27th overall) out of Memphis in 2006, Williams is the Panthers all-time leader with 6,753 rushing yards, 1,403 rushing attempts, 46 rushing touchdowns and 18 games with 100 or more rushing yards. He also holds the team’s single-game rushing mark with 210 yards at New Orleans (12/30/12).

Williams earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2009 after rushing for 1,117 yards and becoming the first player in team history to record back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons, gaining a team-record 1,515 yards in 2008.

Williams’ career 4.81-yards per carry average (6,753 yards on 1,403 attempts) ranks second in Panthers history and is 15th in NFL history among players with a minimum of 750 attempts.

Wide receiver Philly Brown's 79-yard punt return for a touchdown in the first quarter of the Week Five matchup vs. Chicago (10/5/14) was the Panthers first punt return touchdown in the regular season since Steve Smith's 53-yarder at the New York Giants (12/28/03), an NFL-worst drought of 164 games.

The return happened in odd fashion as Brown was interfered with before he fielded

the punt and he, along with the ball, fell to the ground. But Brown got up and found the loose ball. He then ran 79 yards down the sideline for a touchdown to give Carolina a 7-0 lead.

"I looked down, and the ball was right there," Brown said. "Jason Williams and a couple other guys made some crazy blocks to spring me."

The 79-yard return is the third-longest punt return in Panthers history.

Tight end Greg Olsen is again putting together a top season for the Panthers with 45 receptions, 539 receiving yards and five receiv-ing touchdowns. Olsen is the only active NFL tight end with five or more touchdowns in every season since 2008.

In 2013, Olsen led the Panthers in receiving with 73 receptions, 816 yards and six touchdowns. 2013 season marked the first time since 1997 that a wide receiver did not lead the team in recep-tions or receiving yards. Tight end Wesley Walls led the Panthers in receptions (58) and receiving yards (746) that season.

Olsen’s 73 receptions in 2013 are a career-high and tight end record for the Panthers, surpassing his own 69 in 2012. The 816 yards are the third-most by a tight end in team history and the six touchdowns are tied for third-most by a tight end in team history.

Tight end Greg Olsen catches his second touchdown pass of the game in Week Five vs. Chicago (10/5/14).

Tight end Greg Olsen has been a consistent presence in NFL line-ups since his rookie year in 2007. Olsen has played in 119 con-secutive regular season games, the second-longest streak among active tight ends behind Dallas’ Jason Witten (180).

A first-round choice (31st overall) by Chicago in 2007, Olsen missed the first two games of that season with a knee injury sustained in the preseason. He made his NFL debut vs. Dallas (9/23/07) and has not missed a game since.

Quarterback Cam Newton has rushed for 30 touchdowns in his career, tied for 15th-most by a quarterback in NFL history.

Prior to Week Six at Cincinnati (10/12/14), quarterback Cam Newton had rushed 14 times for 42 yards on the year – uncharacteristic numbers for Newton who is returning from ankle and rib injuries. Against Cincinnati, Newton bettered his season numbers rushing a career-high 17 times for 107 yards and his first rushing touchdown of the year.

The 107 rushing yards were the second-most of Newton's career behind the 117 he had vs. Atlanta (12/9/12). Newton added a season-high 284 passing yards vs. Cincinnati.

Newton has used his legs and right arm to produce 15,382 com-bined rushing and passing yards, the second-most in NFL history through a player’s first 56 games.

Newton is the first player in NFL history to have 10,000 passing and 2,000 rushing yards in his first four seasons.

In addition to his rushing touchdown at Cincinnati, Newton added two passing touchdowns. Newton is the only quarterback in NFL his-tory to pass for at least 250 yds with two touchdowns and rush for at least 100 yards with a touchdown in a game. He has accomplished the feat twice: at Cincinnati (10/12/14) and vs. Atlanta (12/9/12).

In 56 career games, Newton has produced 102 total touchdowns (72-pass, 30-rush), ninth-most in NFL history through a player's first 56 games.

Enterting the season, Newton was the only player in NFL history with 50-plus passing touchdowns and 25-plus rushing touchdowns in a three-season span at any point in a career. Newton has 21 career game with a passing touchdown and a touchdown run.

DUAL-THREAT QUARTERBACKQuarterback Cam Newton has made a habit of finding the end zone with his legs as his 30 rushing touchdowns are the most by a quarterback through his first four seasons in NFL history.

Newton's 30 career rushing touchdowns are tied with Roman Gabriel for 15th-most all-time among quarterbacks.

Newton scored a team-leading 14 rushing touchdowns in 2011, the most-ever by a quarterback in NFL history, surpassing the previous mark of 12 by Grogan in 1976.

Since he entered the NFL in 2011, only three running backs have more rushing touchdowns than Newton.

In 2013, linebacker Luke Kuechly became the first Panthers player to earn Associated Press NFL Defensive Player of the Year honors after leading the Panthers No. 2-ranked defense with 176 tackles and tying for the team lead with four interceptions.

The second-year linebacker won the award one season after being named AP NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in 2012.

Kuechly is just the second player to win Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Rookie of the Year in his first two seasons. New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor won both awards as a rookie in 1981 and repeated as Defensive Player of the Year in 1982 (and later in 1986).

Kuechly is one of eight players in NFL history to win Defensive Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in a career.

In nine games with Carolina, cornerback Antoine Cason has tallied 46 tackles, two passes defensed, two interceptions, four forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. The four forced fumbles are the most in the NFL and tie Cason's total in the previous six sea-sons of his career.

Cason saw some familiar faces when he signed with the Panthers in March, reuniting with Panthers head coach Ron Rivera and secondary coach Steve Wilks who coached the corner when he began his NFL career with the San Diego Chargers. Rivera served as the Chargers defensive coordinator from 2008-10 while Wilks was Cason’s position coach from 2009-11.

He earlier earned NFC Player of the Week honors as he helped the Panthers to a 35-10 victory over the Minnesota Vikings in Week Six (10/13/13). He tallied 10 tackles and a career-high 2.0 sacks. The game marked Davis’s first multi-sack performance since 2006 when Davis had 1.5 at St. Louis (11/19/06).

DAVIS PERFORMING AT HIGH LEVEL

Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis has 710 tackles, the second-most in Panthers history, despite miss-ing most of the 2009, 2010 and 2011 seasons due to three reconstructive knee surgeries.

DeCoud's interception was his first of the season and his first since a game vs. the New York Giants (12/16/12), the year that he was named to the Pro Bowl after a six-interception season.

In Week Six at Cincinnati (10/12/14), Harper added his third interception of the season, tying his career high established in 2007. It marks the third time in his nine-year career that he has posted multiple interceptions (2007 - 3; 2012 - 2).

KNOCK IT LOOSE

With a sack in Week Nine vs. New Orleans (10/30/14), defensive tackle Dwan Edwards tallied his fourth sack of the year, the sec-ond-most of his career and surpassing his total from all of 2013.

Edwards has been a solid pass rusher for the Panthers since joining the team in 2012. In 34 games with Carolina, Edwards has 13 sacks after totaling 5.5 in his previous 83 career games.

In his first season with Carolina in 2012, Edwards posted a career-high 6.0 sacks, the third-most among defensive tackles that season.

EDWARDS PROVIDES PUSH IN MIDDLE

Defensive end Mario Addison posted a career-high 2.5 sacks in Week Two vs. Detroit (9/14/14). The 2.5 sacks bettered his previ-ous career high of 1 sack, accomplished twice, most recently at Miami (11/24/14), and equaled his 2013 season total.

Addison pushed his season total to 4.0 sacks with a half-sack in Week Five vs. Chicago (10/5/14), surpassing the sack total from the first three seasons of his career combined.

A fourth-year player from Troy, Addison joined the Panthers in 2012 has evolved into a dependable pass rusher and special teams contributor, playing in 16 games with two starts last year. He posted 14 tackles, 2.5 sacks, 15 quarterback pressures, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in 2013 and tied for the team lead with 10 special teams tackles.

ADDISON HAS CAREER DAY

Mario Addison posted a career-high 2.5 sacks in Week Two vs. Detroit (9/14/14).

Through nine games, kicker Graham Gano has converted 17 of 19 field goal attempts and all 16 extra point attempts. The 17 field goals are tied for third-most in the NFL

Gano's 53-yard field goal in Week Two vs. Detroit was his seventh consecutive made from 50 yards or more.

Last season, Gano made all six of his field goal attempts from 50+ yards, establishing a career-high and franchise record for most 50-yard field goals made in a season.

Gano’s six field goals from 50 yards or more tied for the NFL lead. He was the only kicker in the NFL with more than three attempts from 50-plus yards without a miss from that distance.

Since the start of last season, Gano's seven field goals from 50 or more yards are tied for fourth-most in the NFL. He is the only kicker with more than four attempts from that distance without a miss.

In addition, Gano’s strong leg was a weapon for the Panthers in the field position game. This season, 32 of Gano's 42 kickoffs have resulted in touchbacks. The 76.2 percent touchback rate is fourth in the league.
