Helio D’AnnA - HEAD COACH, ELEVENTH SEASONCoach Helio D’Anna, or Coach “L” (as he is known throughout the soccer world), begins his eleventh season as head men’s and women’s soccer coach.

Under his leadership, the men have accumulated four conference titles and two trips to the NCAA national tournament. The women have also won four conference titles and made three trips to the NCAA national tournament. In 2007, the LMU men’s soccer program won the South Atlantic Conference regular season and tournament titles, and won for the second time in the row the Appalachian Region title, on the way to back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Division II Final Four. The 2007 season run at the national title ended in the championship match where LMU lost 1-0 with less than two minutes on the clock. The Railsplitters also have clinched conference titles in 2004 and 2005. The LMU women’s soccer team won the South Atlantic Conference regular season and tournament

titles in 2007 and advanced to the quarterfinal round match of the NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament. In 2004 and 2005, they also advanced to nationals, including a deep trip to quarter finals of the national tournament. The women also won conference titles in 2004 and 2005. D’Anna was named the 2004 NCAA South Region Coach of the Year with the women and the 2007 Appalachian Region Coach of the Year with the men. A product of São Paulo, Brazil, D’Anna served as head men’s soccer coach for nearby Union College before coming to the Lincoln Memorial University program. D’Anna guided Union to four Mid-South Conference Championships and was named Mid- South Conference Coach of the Year each of those seasons. Coach D’Anna’s 1999 and 2001 teams earned trips to the NAIA Region XI Championship match, and the 2001 team finished the season ranked No. 3 in the country. D’Anna majored in physical education at UniCamp-Brazil, and has a masters degree in physical education from Union College, KY. He coached and played at different soccer clubs in Brazil as well as the American High School of Campinas. He now possesses an overall winning record of 321-177-38 in his collegiate career as a head coach (219-111-25 with the men and 102-66-13 with the women). In percentage of wins, D’Anna is the 22nd winningest active coach in the NCAA II with the men and 31st with the women. He also ranks 26th in the nation in number of victories with the men. He and his wife Debbie reside in Morristown, TN.
