Line of Control (LoC)

• The term Line of Control (LoC) refers to the military control line

between the Pakistan- and Indian-controlled parts of the former

princely state of Kashmir and Jammu.

• Does not constitute a legally recognized international boundary

but is de facto border.

• In 1949 it was "Cease-fire Line“ Then it was redesignated as the "Line of Control" following the Simla Agreement which was signed on 3 July 1972.

Geography

Length : 740 km (460 mi) long.

Location :I. Relative Location : From Siachen in North to Lala

Musa . Its northernmost point is known as the NJ9842.
