Linear Painting
Using your brush as a line-maker
The potential of line using a brush
A line can have Width/Weight Value Color Can suggest movement or mood
Stretch your paper.
Working off the large grouping of objects in front of you, block out (visually) an interesting composition.
Work directly on the paper (no pencil drawing) to “draw” your composition with your brush.
Work with thin paint, heavy paint, and varied size brushes.
You do not need to use the true color scheme. Work the whole paper all at once. You may overlap lines if needed. When you have covered the page, step back and
observe your piece. You may be finished, or may choose to add additional lines (or light washes) to complete the piece.
